Stupidity and Dumb Luck are always with you. Occasionally, Stroke of Genius pays you a fleeting visit.
Another fragmented third person "conversation" with fictional characters. I wish I had the publishing power this magazine gives to Cope (who obviously can't write). I would really like to tear into Idahos conservative republican leadership. Cope is doing us a disservice. Maybe he really works for Otter in some kind of clandestine way. I can believe the Weekly pays this guy.
God, I hope so. These fictional conversations need to go away. Quickly.
The artist is never the best judge of the lasting relevance of his own creation. Be careful. You might destroy something of lasting value, as might have Cotzi.
The ultimate hypocrisy is that the people who are waging relentless war against the poor , claim to have "Christian Values".
Articles such as John's help spread the word.
With the following comments I don't mean to refute the article or anyone's comments, just offer my view on some data / facts / observations as food for thought.
DATA - Addition to the article's data:
... The majority of free-market countries implemented universal health care between 1883 and 1972. None of them have medical-related bankruptcies. Their average cost per person is 40% of the United States cost per person.
POLITICS - The topic of getting health care for all, universal health care, has absolutely nothing to do with the two major political parties. Neither party has a party platform that supports the establishment of universal health care, Improved Medicare for All. This topic of getting it is entirely in the hands of ordinary, average citizens in a united manner with unified (same) actions.
JOBS - Universal health care will help our economy be more globally competitive. The end result will be establish a basis for establishing (and recovering) more jobs and better jobs.
I looked up one time, quite some months ago, how many tens of thousands of Americans work directly for health insurance companies, much less those who work indirectly for health insurance companies. Although I don't immediately find the results of that research on my computer, I do recall it's a mighty big number. And I very distinctly recall those one-on-one interactions with individual American adults when I drove to Ohio two different years: one perhaps around roughly 2003 and the other around perhaps 2009. Each person was rather emotionally distraught about the topic of people losing their jobs.
BENEFITS - My experience with #3 causes me to not communicate nothing about the evils of the so-called parasitic health insurance companies. I prefer to communicate the fantastic benefits of universal health care, Improved Medicare for All, which will be the best universal health care in the world and provide these overall benefits:
....... Health care for all without the unnecessary hardships.
....... A stronger economy from less bureaucracy.
....... Better health from excellent health care access.
....... More freedoms for health care and life choices.

"Obamacare is Obama's Gettysburg, that's what."
Bill, there is something to this idea.
Contrary to revised history, in both cases, the Commander in Chief and the Administrator in Chief are acting in line with the interests of the Business Class Elite.
Lincoln was following the direction of the Northern Business elite who wanted economic expansion into the South-with free land, free labor, a controllable market, a high protective tariff for manufacturers, and banking control.
This is still going on today, but now it's global.
Lincoln stated in his first Inaugural Address, in 1861:
"I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so."
The real reason for prosecuting the war was to keep the Union together and both prevent the South from trading with Britain while opening up the South to the unbridled expansion of Northern Business Elites.
Lincoln only added Abolition to the goals of the war when the increasing pressure from the abolitionists threatened the coalition supporting him.
As for Obama, like Lincoln he is following the direction of the Business Class Elite by in this case forcing the public to open their wallets and give the Insurance/Medical Cartel virtually an unbridled ability to expand their profits.
In this case Obama has used the plight of the poor as the excuse to allow the Business Class to fleece the public.
Lincoln, even if he wanted to at the beginning, couldn't use the plight of the blacks to push war on the South, since racism was as entrenched in the North as Slavery was in the South.
Most northerners did not care enough about slavery to make sacrifices for it, certainly not the sacrifice of war.
So Lincoln's original strategy was to force the South to secede through a shipping blockade and other tactics, thus creating enough justification for public support.
The slavery card was used later in the game.
Obama actually has an edge in the game he's playing out for the Business Class.
He's even got some ersatz resistance being performed by the other half of the Business Party.
This is just the same Con Game being played over and over again.
Very good John!
I've had similar thoughts when I gaze at these local monuments to disease and theft.
One has to wonder what those saints would say if they saw the wealth extraction perpetrated by the medical/insurance cartel, not to mention a bankster cartel with the gall to name itself Zion.
Kudos to you for describing this evil exactly as it is.
And the un-affordable Care Act is, as you say, a giveaway to the insurance companies, who, don't forget, donated massively to the current puppet's recent election.
Neither the medical cartel nor the insurance parasites are the least bit interested in preventive health care.
Follow the Money!
The big money is in disease, not health.
John, you obviously understand that:
All that needs to happen for evil to triumph is for good men & women to do nothing!
Keep it up. You're not alone.
It's not a matter of stereotyping the right. It's easy to tell them by their malevolent actions and rhetoric against the poor in addition to their protection of the wealthy. The difference between the Repulsicans and Democraps is obvious.
Repulsican...original, but then again, stereotyping those on the right is okay because you are in the party that really cares.
I agree that the Affordable Care Act only prolongs the agony of our dysfunctional medical financing system. We need single-payer.
You nailed it, John. But remember, Rember, all of those other Nation States offering cheaper health care with better results for their citizens are Godless Commie-Pinkos. The poor don't deserve health care or anything else for that matter. Only the market place and the survival of the fittest and richest matters. Just ask the Pope and Praise the Lord. And Remember to Vote Repulsican to eliminate Food Stamps and Universal Education and Health Care, like all good Christians should.
Well this is certainly a new twist in your column. When did you get all scientific on us . . .ya know with the planets and galaxies and what not? What happened to red and mullet boy? Let me guess Cope . . .you spent the entire holiday weekend smoking weed and watching the discovery channel? I was waiting for the usual conclusion . . . that you are trapped here in Idaho (the only intellectual) surrounded by the rest of us (white Christian men with machine guns, Bible's, constitution, small dick's and hating the president because he is black) . . .but apparently not this time.
By the way your math sucks (means you are not a scientist). You are not "batting 1000" unless you have been to 1000 planets and even in context (the baseball analogy) we say the player is "batting 500" when actually we mean .500 (point five zero zero.) If you have been Ergos or your "test planet" I can only add . . .that was you???
Also . . .there is no such number "to the 40 billionth power". Pretty laughable. Even in atomic science (my area of research) rarely do we see a number more that 20 or 30 powers of ten.
Poor old, middle aged, middle class white guy, toughing it out in the Sawtooth Valley with nothing better to do than carve powder turns and muse about public policy matters over which you have no control. Get off of you lazy ass and insulate you cabin better so you can fool yourself into believing than you are helping save the Planet by reducing your Carbon Butt Print.
Yes, I have to agree with you that the value of education is lost. It is being evaluated by cash and this is already wrong. So it would better to start changing kids attitude, but we all understand that the reason they have this attitude is because they see no good future for them ad naturally there is no reason for the to even try! So either the government will take this problem under their control or the nation will have to face pretty bad consequences after all.

John, save yourself some unnecessary guilt by skipping 'the letter to President Obama detailing how to fix health care' and 'the new letter to President Obama about the dubious morality of drone warfare'.
The Doctor and Drone Pilot in Chief is taking orders from a different group than the voters or the elected 'representatives in the District of Criminals.
You might want to turn up the guilt a bit, however, if you were one of the misguided souls who voted for Mr. Hope and Change.
The best choice was None of the Above.....as usual.
@Kyle This screed by Ted makes some good points about the fantasies that were created around Clinton, but the rest of it is just one of the many non-journalistic regurgitations of the fantasy conspiracy presented by the 911 Commission.
Here's hoping that since 2004 when Ted wrote this, he has done a tiny bit of actual journalistic investigation and uncovered the fact that there's been a whole lot of false information disseminated by the government concerning 911 and that the 911 Commission Report was a total whitewash, as stated by more than one of its members.
Some of the questions that come up around this event are obvious and others won't arise until one digs a bit deeper.
A good place to start is at the Pentagon.
This location presents obvious questions when one takes a look at the photos, while considering what passenger airliners are constructed of, how the Pentagon is structured and the fact that whatever hit the building close to ground level punched thru all of the rings of the Pentagon leaving a nicely shaped hole on the inner ring.
Once it dawns on you that there's no way in hell that this was done by an airliner then you'll be on your way to dozens of more discoveries as you look at the whole event that occurred on 911.
By the way, the part of the Pentagon that was hit, had been recently blast hardened. The probable cause of the damage to the Pentagon was a Cruise missile, which would be one of ours. OOPPS!
Another bit for you: hundreds of engineers and architects have petitioned the government for a new investigation, since they know without a doubt the the World Trade Center buildings did not collapse due to fires.
One last bit: Some very powerful people are very concerned about the public learning the truth about what happened or there wouldn't be the continued media blackout on the topic other than to re-enforce the official conspiracy theory, just as Ted did in his screed above.
Check out this website if you want to dig any deeper:
If only I could go back in time and change a lot of conspiracy events that lead up to 9/11. I would almost give up my soul to do that.
Dad was doing relief work as a pharmacist back then doing vacation relief for people in which 9/11 killed a lot of work for Dad as people stopped taking vacations well anyways the DAY BEFORE 9/11 a Muslim came into the store he was working at acting very strange indeed starting to disturb other people in the store.
He was doing some kind of weird dance and had a HUGE grin on his face giving Dad very bad vibes and he has seem some weird people come in before but not that give him such bad vibes. It was very off putting to say the least and the Muslim was starting to disturb other customers with his weird dances. Dad working their even considered calling the police over but the Muslim customer left on his own so Dad wasn't sure what to do about it.
I wonder if the police would've done anything if Dad had called to report the strange disturbance as it's the polices job to check up on suspicious people even before 9/11 simply for drug crime if nothing else.
Later on hindsight he wished he had called the police. Maybe the suspect would've been arrested for carrying illegal street drugs on him if nothing else.
Testing 1 2 3.
