I'm an America living in Belgium. Guns are outlawed for most people, and I hardly hear of gun deaths. I can't raise my kid in America because of the paranoid insanity of the gun culture. It's a sickness.
NO ATHEISTS IN FOXHOLES......AND THERE ARE NO HUMANISTS WORKING IN LEPROSARIUMS.
Excellent, as always.
A poll on the TV news today had Hillary over Drumpf by 20% in a head to head.
Its the blow dried comb-over.....that will short circuit a brain (even one with marginal cells) each and every time......lol
rodnchance, your reasoning is impeccable. Of course these are the reasons there is no Toxic Sewage Internet just for infornography. These people need their own algore. I suggest Dick-with-Ears Cheney. He is perfect for the job. Vice Presidents are the best for creating Internets of all types.
Grrr. Whether a person decides to live it up or save it for marriage is entirely up to that person and no one else's business. Are there seriously still people trying to shore up their own self-esteem by shaming others about sex? People really still do that? "Trovada Whore"... How ridiculous. Just MYOB people, it isn't that hard.
I hear this a lot in the gay community, online and in person. I don't get it. Why is there a stigma in taking one more step to ensure you don't get something as serious as HIV? I understand this may have come about from misuse, but if you're wrapping it and taking Truvada, applause to you! And let's not judge him for being sensitive to criticism because maybe you handle haters better, that's not fair or kind. We all value the opinions of our own communities differently, you have no idea how he feels, and you should applaud him for stepping up and considering that choice, Kate, not judge him like you're so much better.
Why? because they would need algore & the dreaded government to put it in place for them and they already know the "The government cain't do enythin rite" & "algore is fat."
Wow. No kidding- if you're not grownup enough to handle the words haters will throw at you, maybe you're not grown up enough to stick a penis in someone. Wrap that stick!! Keep the rest of the population safe.
The number of dislikes of my comment again confirm for me that readers of the BW have no or only very little concept of what sarcasm, irony, parody, and tongue-in-cheek commenting are all about. Idahoans in general take everything much too literally. Humor depends on all these things.
Cope, feel free to take your minority interest and move to mexico or any other 3rd world country where you will be greeted with open arms and your opinion to change the way things are done there will be heard, appreciated, and embraced. FOOL!
I used to live next to Framingham. One of my kids went to Framingham State...for a semester. We shopped at Shoppers World in Framingham, first mega shopping complex. Am I better or worse off for my relationship to Framingham? I'm sorry you don't address these questions, John. Maybe in a future column?
Hello Bill. Interesting to read your comments on God. I’ll just observe that not all Methodists or others of similar mainstream inclinations, contrasted with those of a more conservative bent, are as you describe. There are many of the liberal-intellectual tradition that take a reasoned approach to faith, politics, ethics, philosophy, etc. Some of them, even many, wonder of wonders, probably vote Democrat. You no doubt recall the BW article you authored some years ago in which you interviewed a few Boise clergy of the tradition of which I speak.
Since you mention your mother's religious tradition, I recall how she certainly was genuine and sincere, and steadfastly observed her faith to the last. I'll also note that her theology was probably more conservative than even the average Methodist, though she typified many who came of age in the 1920s and 30s.
Thanks for articulating your position. I may not hold to your views regarding faith, but still appreciate your creativity and the clever way you provide a counterbalance in the interesting, unique religio-political climate of Idaho.
Yup tis sad and concerning all those people died Bill. Now, take away ALL the guns and we can do what happened in Russia, China and German (just to name 3). Between 1941 and 1944 how many died because the German Government took all the citizen's guns away? Bill, I am one of those "doofas" types you have so much hatred for. Let me ask you these simple questions. Will you, as a citizen of the United States defend me with your very life, to the last breath so that I may voice my opinion, live free and come and go as I choose? Will you do this sir without regards to my faith, my color, my political belief, by sexual orientation my gender or anything that may identify me as not like you and as a "doofus". I didn't think so. I will do so for you in a heart beat even though I think you are an ass.
The amazing thing is that none of the anti-gun articles ever point out how many lives are saved by citizens with guns. Any killing is front page news but guns used to save lives hardly gets mentioned and buried on some back page.
What I don't get is why did you write this article if not to bash Christians? So your friend is off-base in his views. His views are not Biblical views or widely shared. I've never heard any fellow Christian claim that using our calendar system makes someone a believer in God. I know of no Christian who denies there are atheists. The Bible itself describes them. We also know that prayers made in foxholes are not always prayers of faith. Many are prayers of desperation by someone who is under extreme duress. So while it is slightly amusing to hear of your friend's views it hardly seems worthy of being made into an article for BW. It is though in keeping with the general anti-Christian bias of BW and frequent misrepresentation of our views.
I don't think people walking around in public with guns bothers me. What bothers me are the dishonest people who claim to do it for "the common good" who do it because it gives them a rush to be so boldly provocative. I consider most open-carriers and people who brag about their CWP's to fall into that group.
@boi22toy, I would argue they are not well regulated. Certainly not soldiers. Definitely not competent, in Mr. Reed's case, to operate a firearm safely.
Guarding soldiers who are not allowed to defend themselves is doing a lot more than the libtard solution of the old "no guns allowed" sign. How's that working out by the way? Of course if you really wanted to make a difference, you could stop ridiculing people from behind the safety of the internet and act as an unarmed human shield for our men and women in uniform. Heck, you'd be the first useful liberal in human history.
