Re: “Avalanche of Snow Removal Criticism

Perhaps Mayor Bieter is unfamiliar with the ACHD organization. The in-charge people (commissioners) are voted into office - just like Boise's mayor! - and likewise can be voted out.

THIS lifelong Boise resident feels Bieter is trying to "opportunize" on a once-every-30-years -type weather event, in his relentless quest for power and influence. Based on his and the City Council's track record, I'm guessing the city could probably assume the duties of the ACHD... and figure out a way to do it more expensively! (Only a fool would maintain a fleet of equipment for snow removal at this year's level. Not all of Boise's taxpayers are rich north- and east-enders, Mr. Mayor!!)

Re: “Otter Still Waiting for Trump's Call

George: Ag is nowhere near 20% of Idaho's economy. That is a commonly repeated myth that is easily debunked by visiting the BEA website. Agriculture, forestry, fishing, farming accounted for $3.508 bb in GDP out of Idaho's total $65.549 bb in total GDP in 2005.

Re: “More Heather Scott Melodrama at Idaho Statehouse: Five GOP Legislators Ask to Be Removed From Committees

For as long as most of us can remember, the GOP has had a "super majority" in the Legislature, and pretty much calls the shots. I believe at its root, the local Legislative Soap Opera is a microcosm of the power struggle in the GOP, between the "establishment" group and the "Neo-Republicans."

I suspect that the Bigwigs will beat those rebels into submission, and get back to their traditional Establishment GOP Legislatin' (and ignoring the Democrat minority), in fairly short order.

Re: “Punished After Claiming Female House Members Trade Sex for Power, Rep. Heather Scott Issues Statement: 'I Call It Like I See It'

But that doesn't excuse her clueless and racist actions like her confederate fag incident

Re: “Punished After Claiming Female House Members Trade Sex for Power, Rep. Heather Scott Issues Statement: 'I Call It Like I See It'

She's being punished because she is a woman. The men say much worse than that. What about the Rep for Idaho's corporate group last year who made horrible statements and was protected.

Re: “Poll: Has Your Street Been Plowed?

Perhaps before ACHD pats themselves on the back, declaring that they are proud of the work that they have done, they should first finish the job they are being asked to do.

Re: “Here's ACHD's Explanation of How It Prioritizes Snowplowing

It's now Jan 13th and it's been over a week since snow plows have been through the Hobble Creek neighborhood (bordered by Eagle Rd and Chindin). First there was a foot of snow on our neighborhood streets, then it rained on top of the foot of snow, then the snow started melting and now it's frozen so the foot of slush on our streets is now frozen solid. Neighbors are unwilling to face the icy streets and frozen ridges in the streets. The few cars that venture out quickly lose traction and require help to push their cars out of the frozen ridges. We're running out of groceries now and today we actually made dinner out of pasta that expired in Sept 2010. Please send someone to plow the icy ridges and ice from our streets so we can function and get out and about to run errands and shop for groceries. We feel we've been abandoned. I watch one car after another get stuck in the ice and snow near my house at the corner of Brooklet and W. Edenbrook. Please send snow plows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: “Idaho State Journal: Eastern Idaho Lunch Lady Says Life is a 'Nightmare' One Year After Being Fired for Giving Student Free Meal

What she did by not giving that gofundme money to Dalene is fraud. Need to get ahold of gofundme and file a complaint. If they can't help you need to contact law enforcement. People have been arrested for this exact same thing.

But if they kept track of the money better, it would make it harder to funnel.

Re: “Labrador-Sponsored Religious Freedom Bill Could Resurface This Year

Great article. Thank you for informing us so we can keep an eye on this terrible bill. Why is this coming up again, don't we have other pressing national issues that deserve more attention than this?

Re: “Southwest to Launch Direct Nonstop From Boise to San Diego

Well, accurately it is PDT not PST. Also, nonstops will be offered 7 days a week, SaSu scheds different than weekdays. Finally 6/4 is first day of nonstops.

Re: “Next Up: 'Right-Sizing' Boise's Main Street and Fairview Avenue

Why isn't anything being done about the clusters on Chinden from Eagle intersection all the way through to Canyon County???? The population has exploded in Northwest Ada County. Chinden Blvd in Meridian is only 2 lanes!

Re: “Prosecutor Says Dietrich High Assault Not Sex or Race Crime, Teen Pleads Guilty to Lesser Felony

Unbelievable result---probation in home state, deletion of crime as sex offense, coddling violent and dangerous man without imposing sex offender label, involvement of Idaho AG, blatant disregard for the dignity and humanity of the mentally disabled community, intentional ignorant mischaracterization of racism as "racial overtones." This is really shameful. Future of the perpetrator in Texas? Waiting to hear the outcome while hoping another innocent does not have to pay the price of tarnished justice. May God have mercy on our souls.
