Re: “UPDATE: Humane Society Offers $10,000 Reward for Information on Mutilated Pony in Minidoka County

Cindy, how does every letter make a difference … with this Legislature?

A legislature that passed an ag-gag bill (unconstitutional on its face, apparent even at the time it was approved) requiring the state to spend great sums of taxpayer money unsuccessfully defending in court?

A legislature that has a hard time with human rights, much less animal rights, witness the nine years it took for the "Add the Words" folks to even be granted a hearing … before they were voted down.

I think it's delusional to tell people to write letters ... and that every letter makes a huge difference. It flies in the face of years -- nay, decades -- of past experience with the Idaho Legislature.

Until people start voting -- in far greater numbers than they have in the past -- and until better candidates come forth (candidates with an "R" beside their name, rather than the "D" that's the "scarlet letter" in much of Idaho) then we can expect the same behavior from this state assembly.

I'm not sure if Bogus knows their peer group. The idea of paying $71 to $85 to ski the terrain and snow at Bogus is ridiculous.

Having graduated with a BFA in 1989 with art classes spread all over the campus I am excited for this building to be completed. I think the design is stunning and can't wait to be there for the opening.

Re: “UPDATE: Humane Society Offers $10,000 Reward for Information on Mutilated Pony in Minidoka County

People we need to put pressure on Idaho lawmakers to enact tougher laws for Animal Rights.

Idaho has a horrible track record because of the huge farming, Ag and food industry presence here. When it comes to animal protection laws, Idaho is ranked an abysmal 49th in the county. They even passed a law (Ag Gag) making it illegal for whistle-blowers to report animal cruelty in Idaho (it was just recently repealed as unconstitutional).

We all feel so helpless to do anything when things like this happen.
“I’m just one person…how can I make a difference?”

Write your lawmakers. Every single letter makes a huge difference.

You can make a difference.

Below is an Email list you can use to contact your Idaho lawmakers.

Thank You for taking the time to make a difference.

Re: “The Three Who Want to Unseat Boise Mayor Dave Bieter

Excellent points frankr. Not to mention the FOUR MILLION plus the city is pouring into cleaning up the "donated" Esther Simplot park. Guess they didn't do any diligence looking at the toxicity of the land before they accepted the "free" donation. And of course finding out they were handed a pig in a poke, they just couldn't return it now could they.

Maybe the mayor could jack up the parking meter rates again downtown to pay for the cleanup.

Anybody But Bieter.

Re: “Former Idaho Gov. Cecil Andrus Blasts DOE for 'Culture of Secrecy' Surrounding Nuclear Waste Shipments

A Judge agreed with Battelle during a recent lawsuit that it (Battelle) doesn't have a stated law duty to protect the plaintiff from second hand exposure from her spouse. (even though Battelle sent him and 15 other workers home with plutonium 239 and americium 241 still on their bodies as there were no showers available to them in the ZIPPR Lab.

My son iis one of the workers who brought the contamination into his home.
His wife and 14 yr old daughter were contaminated by the willful negliance of both BEA and DOE by not providing proper safety precautions to the workers.

That is how the Battelle and DOE Hierarchy thumb their noses at the citizens of Idaho and hide behind the Price-Anderson Act.

Thank You Governor Andrus and Governor Batt. I am with you all the way.

Re: “Boise Planning and Zoning OKs Three Projects Totaling Four Hotels

I'd love to see the occupancy and revenue reports that GBAD should provide which would warrant new hotels needed in Boise. Oh wait....they don't have those since they disbanded the CVB. Interesting.

Re: “Boise Planning and Zoning OKs Three Projects Totaling Four Hotels

"and Gardner Company's two-hotel project on the superblock known as Parcel B next to the I-84 Connector on Front Street." AM I THE ONLY ONE CURIOUS AS TO HOW GARDNER COMPANY ENDED UP WITH THE LARGEST PARCEL IN DOWNTOWN BOISE? PARCEL B IS THE PROPERTY OWNED BY GBAD. For years if was known as the future site for the convention center owned by GBAD. The property that Dave Bieter said was to "far". Then Boise officials start referring to it as parcel B and Gardner Company ends up owning it??

Re: “Boise Planning and Zoning OKs Three Projects Totaling Four Hotels

Hotels … hotels … hotels …

As downtown Boise loses its music store … its stationery store … its family-owner restaurants … is our downtown's future doomed to high-rise hotels for transients and parking decks for commuters?

Re: “The Three Who Want to Unseat Boise Mayor Dave Bieter

Judy is right. Property owners in Boise deserve a Mayor for the good of ALL. Not just the "DOWNTOWN CORE" AND FOOTHILLS!
Spending Millions of TAX dollars to study the feasibility of a downtown streetcar?
Build a new fire station 1/2 mile from existing for a better response time? Then USE GENERAL FUND DOLLARS AFTER PEOPLE VOTED NOT TO USE TAX DOLLARS?
Repair the side of the Grove Hotel for A.J.?
Build an economy parking lot for the airport to CLOSE it down?
To allow Gardner Company not to pay for permits and fees for expansion to their US Bank building while Simplot did for Jump project? WERE TALKING $500,000.00?
Appointing a council member that is a lawyer and developer from a list of 32 candidates? Were does this council member have the time to represent ME?
Seems like Dave Bister is now working for CCDC, Gardner Company, lobbyist and the Bieter family not his CONSTITUENTS!

They need to get rid of that nasty surface lot that you can see from Capitol Blvd. anyway.

Bully for the editors. There is no upside to creationism nonsense. It had some entertainment value for a while, but it's time to move on.

Re: “State of the City: List of Accomplishments But Bieter Says 'We Need to Do More'

Salt lake has hordes of homeless wandering the streets. Go down around rio grande. Politicians always find a way to say the are successful. But hardly ever the case. And why does a city need to be philanthropic? And a high paid position for it? That's not the mission. Lower taxes if you have enough to give it away. What a huge waste. It will go to pet projects that taxpayers in fact are rewarding political friends with.

Re: “UPDATE: Christian Group Cries Foul When Boise State Student Newspaper Says 'No' to Ad For Creationism Event

It clearly states on the website front page: "The Arbiter is the official independent student newspaper of Boise State University and a designated public forum, where student editors make all content decisions and bear responsibility for those decisions." That said, I would take the money and print the ad. I think @christianFanOfDarwin had a good idea: "accept the $$ for the ad, and then to run a full page editorial discussing the larger issue.".

Re: “Welcome to Cooper Court, Boise's Growing Tent City of Homeless

I was near the Grove , and there was a familiar looking individual sitting on the bench with a sign , I didn't r recognize who it was, but then I saw the resident homeless individual (his truff) (its true), he picked this guy up and told him to get off his corner and that little guy when I saw his face was none other than my next door neighbor who was NOT homeless, receives a check from the government,...IS NOT STARVING , he has meal on wheels..The point here is that when you take some of them some of these individuals and House them in neighborhoods, they don't leave behind their old habits and their old ways of behaving and often brings danger in your environment.

Jerry branson. Either you have never actually read the bible or you have no idea what science is about. I am a scientist and have read the bible a handful of times cover to cover. I assure you that the bible and sound science are about as mutually exclusive as two things can be. If you truly believe your statement, then you are doing one of those things wrong.
