If Idaho worried more about providing our children with a decent education than what they wear on their backs the entire state would be much better off. Do they still have the principal make the girls kneel to see if their skirts touch the ground like they used to do in the 60's?
Those who attended or listened to the Times-News community forum last night saw significant support, and insignificant opposition from a small group of Three Percenters -- some respectful, some belligerent -- who apparently didn't feel represented in the conversation, despite the moderator asking their skeptical questions.
Heidi Ramos: "... why don't you focus on what's really important in your schools like say education?"
I'm guessing that's the point. They want the male students to focus on education, rather than those long, tanned cheerleader legs.
... ... ...
Oh, sorry! I was daydreaming for a minute there...
Clearly saving their souls one covered shoulder and knee cap at a time. Cripes, why don't you focus on what's really important in your schools like say education? !
Well. I guess I will no longer be moving back to Boise. Where do you plan on putting these refugees? You guys figured out the homeless problem in the last 3 years? Think!
It's so easy for us to sit here in our relative comfort and forget just how bad some of these folks have it. They're not trying to come here because of dreams of streets paved in gold. They're trying to flee their homes so they don't get turned into sex slaves, get beheaded or worse. They're not trying to "steal our jobs" they're simply trying to not get killed.
And we get a bunch of folks with their head's up the back end crying "NOT IN MY BACK YARD" like they're somehow entitled or special. As a people we should be ashamed. This is what our nation was BUILT upon. This is what we once stood for.
Remind me again, what does it say on the Statue of Liberty? Something about "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" right? Not "You're different go the f*** away you losers!"
Let's face it 'ajax' Dave Bieter's days of representing us are over. He works for the CCDC, and Gardner Company. He will lower the quality of life for his constituents in the valley with his solicitation of making Gowen Field home to the F 15 and/or F35's? For more JOBS?? He comes across as doing more for getting outsiders here than taking care of those that live here and pay taxes. I will say this he did do a good job of representing his constituents in his first term.
yup, them drug addled oreogonians be coming after your daughters in no time.........lol
Interesting @Bill Jefferies... I say good for them though. Next step, plastic grocery bags.
This is a misguided effort. New published research on shows these bans drive people to drink soda not tap water. And more containers of soda, also packaged in PET (but much heavier bottles due to carbonation). Read: http://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/abs/10.2105/AJPH.2015.302593 There are much better ways to deal with recycling issues.
What debacle was that?
The biological decision to list based on a demonstrated and documented decline in the species in three states? The acknowledgment that over-harvest of old-growth timber (and export of much of that timber to Asia) was forcing an unsustainable cut in the national forests -- a harvest pushed by "get out the cut at any cost" politicians (both Democrat and Republican) in the Congress? The realization that the Northwest was not running out of trees … but it was running out of forests that possessed all the components needed for overall forest health?
Yes, there were serious impacts on timber-dependent communities. Other factors in the spotted owl's decline (competition with barred owls in transformed habitat) were learned in subsequent years. The process of designating critical habitat and drawing up a recovery plan were painful and difficult.
But it was probably the spotted owl experience that brought all players to the table in this latest sage grouse episode. Let's hope the collaboration works -- as it is supposed to -- and how the Endangered Species Act is intended to encourage.
I'd like to think that U.S. Fish and Wildlife learned from it's Spotted Owl listing debacle
well now.....it looks like the donald has lost another vote.......lol
I think this is a great idea, let's just hope that these hydration stations actually dispense cold water, I've experienced some in other places that give you warmish water & that it's just not right...
Right on Ketchum!
Oh geez!! I'm guessing his next move is pyramid scheme or politics.
They are going to regret that. People come to Idaho because it is safe. Keep shouting "diversity" and will not be safe any more. Might sound racist, but it's just a sad fact, unfortunately.
Kudos to the hikers!
But I disagree with the emphasis on building (and mainting) thru trails. Pounding out the miles on a groomed trail like the PCT compared to following a vanishing trapper or Indian route is day and night -- off trail in the back country is to PCT thru hiking as trail walking is to schlepping along the shoulder of a highway.
I'm all for sharing knowledge of routes -- stream fords, downed timber to avoid, ridges to walk, and impassable cliffs or slide alder to avoid. With GPS that can now be easily shared without the need for blazing. Beyond that, sure maintain some sections along the route in popular areas. But trails are historically maintained by each passing animal.
Thru hiking -- well that is often about milestones and bragging rights. You'll never learn what you will crossing a mountain range off trail.
Let's face it 'frankr,' Bieter stands as much chance of losing in this election as Otter and all the other entrenched Republicans in our State & Federal spots did. Thankfully, we as Boiseans have the good sense to elect progressive Democratic people to represent us in city government
Did you know that the Idaho Tax Commission dictates to the counties the value of the RES LOT OR TRACT you will find on your Assessment Notice?
