My daughter is one that will be severely affected by the decision on Medicare. She is the working poor, working 36 to 45 hours at two jobs while attending college full time. She will need $7k to $10k of testing over the next couple of months and treatment after that. The Healthcare.gov website says that she does not make enough money for assistance and that she will qualify for medicare if Idaho passes it. I hope that the single issue ideologues like Fulcher come to their senses and do whats right for the people they represent, and not what they think is righteous in their minds.
I never understood what ANY holiday has to do with
overeating and drinking alcohol until one passes out.
“Fuzzy Math” by State Health Exchange Ignores Idaho Solutions
Ever notice when you go to a McDonald’s you see the number telling you how many billions of hamburgers people bought? Why does it matter? Because it indicates customer interest in its products.
Taxpayers are spending $4,271 for a person to complete an application ($20.3 mi./4,753 people) on the state health exchange. If you divide the $20.3 million taxpayers gave the state exchange by the 4,753 people who actually completed an application, that works out to the nearly $4,300 per application.
Amy Dowd, the state exchange’s executive director told the Boise Weekly the exchange had 70,000 “unique visitors” to its website. She claims people are “very interested,” given Idaho has 200,000 people who are uninsured. But only 4,753 people out of 70,000 people completed an application – a mere 6.8%. Even worse, we have no idea how many people actually bought a health plan. 338 “selected a plan,” but we don’t know if any of them paid any money.
What matters in business is not how many people visit your website, express interest in your product, or even “complete an application” for your product. What matters is how many people buy your product. And that’s a mystery with Idaho’s state exchange.
Because we tied ourselves to the federal system, we are now paying the price. We have plenty of tech firms in Idaho who could design a centralized web portal, and align available health plans to potential buyers. And I doubt they would need $20.3 mi. (let alone the $50 mi. more they’re asking for). We need Idaho solutions to solve Idaho problems. Thank you.
OK, let's examine this.
"The size of expenditure makes expansion unsustainable in the long term without a huge change in the way things are done. Every dollar spent on Medicaid is a dollar not spent on education."
There definitely needs to be a huge change in how things are done, both with the tax dollars spent on sick care and tax dollars spent on student indoctrination.
It's safe to say that those dollars in are now spent very poorly.
"These are the people who change your oil, who serve you food."
A statement like this shows that someone is clearly out of touch with how many people can't afford medical care.
It isn't just grease monkeys and waitresses.
"Medicaid expansion needed to go one step further, especially with regards to mental health."
Here's a place where that "huge change" needs to occur.
The health of the brain directly effects an individual's mental health.
The health of the brain is dependent on the health of the body.
The health of the body is dependent on the health-building ability of the foods eaten.
Here comes that huge change: therefore to enable any actual improvement in mental health there must be a change from saturating individuals with pharmaceuticals to improving their diets so that they create healthy bodies and brains.
"The system is in crisis."
"We're spending a lot and getting a little,"
The system that's in crisis is the entire US sick care system.
The "lot" that we're (the patients) spending is the outrageous amount of money for very "little" actual health improving service.
Any changes made to Medicaid are only bandaids on a neverhealing open sore.
And no, Obamacare is not the solution either, it's just another bandaid.
A good start on bringing health to the sick care system is to remove the parasitic insurance companies from the trough.
Next, remove the greedy pharmaceutical companies from the trough.
Next, eliminate the strangling control of the AMA over the number of physicians
Next, eliminate the greedy overpriced tuition charged by medical colleges.
Next, get the greedy corporations out of the hospital administration business.
On this last point, having bottom line focused administrators managing healthcare increases the likelihood that its morphs into sick care.
The biggest profits per patient can best be gotten by gradually destroying their health and not in improving their health.
And here's the primary reason that the overall sick care system as well as individual health in this country are both going from bad to worse.
The big money and best profits are dealing in sickness, not health.
I would explain the economics of minimum wage increases, but you have all heard it before and have promptly ignored it. Heck, we haven't had serious inflation in a few decades... let's roll the dice!
This story has the potential to be disturbing on so many levels.
Here you've got a person who probably thought they were doing a positive thing for their country and for another country, while actually the whole 'mission' was phony from the beginning.
This soldier, at some level psychologically has got to realize this and will need to heal from this damage.
Add to the above the physical damage received by DeWayne while on the 'mission' and he's burdened with healing from this damage as well, although the physical insults should not have been entirely unexpected considering his chosen vocation.
Then he gets home and runs into the bureaucratic medical labyrinth that is sick..er...health care in The Land of the Free.
And he's far from being alone in his plight.
Multiply this by hundreds of thousands and you've got the widespread disturbing Veteran situation today.
It's difficult to know where to start in order to see how this situation could have been avoided.
A key place to start would be to recognize the psychopaths that created the false flags and dis-information used to manipulate the US public into these phony wars in the first place.
Healing from this organized depravity is going to be a huge challenge for all citizens living in The Land of the Free.
See if you can tell the difference between these "Historic Horse Racing" machines in this short video and slot machines. I could not tell the difference. Neither could Commissioner Dave Case. When he was shown this same video at last night's hearing, he said (and I quote), "You're showing us slot machines." I have nothing against horse racing. But these machines are NOT horse racing. The mayor, city council and Chamber of Commerce are all against bringing hundreds of these machines into the heart of Garden City. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KG1w9Vqz4R8
Denying the most needy
access to healthcare. . .
yes, just as Jesus would do.
All of this focus on the minimum wage has just been a diversion from the real reasons for the extreme income inequality in the Land of the Free.
What would actually help the low paid minimum wage slaves more would be to set a maximum income for the plutocrats.
The primary focus of income regulation up to this point has been to maximize wages/income of the business & ruling classes, while using minimum wage laws as a smoke screen for the deliberate fleecing of the actual productive laborers in this country.
It's time that the 'In Greed We Trust' government/corporate vampires are forced to quit sucking the wealth and life out of those that actually produce wealth in this society.
Just Say No To Greed!!!
This short animation makes the current reality clear:
Right, and the CNAs who feed, bathe and do everything else for grandpa at the local nursing home, what will you do when they go on strike for wages that will feed their families?
Apparently this isn't a joke. Seems simple to me: if people are willing to bet on a race that's already been run -- let 'em.
fast food workers going on strike my benefit the treasure valley by forcing people to eat healthy food :)
Nope, I would give them about 8 bucks.
“This premier is doing it all for her big brother. Is there any country in the world like this?”
Yes there is.
Shrub the Younger, did it all for Daddy Shrub.
“They use our taxes only to enrich themselves. It’s a mystery how they divvy up our money,”
No mystery here.
It's funneled through the Federal Reserve Bank Cartel to the .05%.
'But unarmed raids on ministries — however weaponless — are being portrayed as something akin to absolute havoc by the ruling party.'
Here in the Land of the Free, the exposing of the heinous illegal actions of intelligence gathering corporations such as Stratfor, which colluded with the government, attempting to link non-violent dissident groups, including some within occupy, to terrorist organizations, so peaceful dissidents could be prosecuted as terrorists, is punishable with the draconian sentence of 10 years in prison.
The Oligarchy here has definitely eclipsed the Indonesians on this count.
Betting on already-decided outcomes? Is this a joke, or am I missing something?
Well if you weren't sure before this information, then you certainly know now at least one more reason why they're not called Democrats.
By all means lets emulate the sterling example of Great Britain with the re-institution of an American House of Lords, containing the 'Better Men' of society, opening even more opportunities for those that are significantly better at delivering favors for the right sum of money or for those open to greasing the palms of other corrupt legislators in order to win votes.
It brings an old meaning to buying votes.
Just another instance of a party devoted to the conservation of awareness, pushing to return the whole society back to more corrupt and less enlightened times.
Hey fellas, If you want to do something that would actually help the citizens of the great state of Idaho, how about passing short-term limits on yourselves?
Eliminating career politicians is the best thing that could happen to this country.
Just Say No To Re-Election
It will be just as important as:
Just Say No To Drugs
Now here's a real estate businessman who understands how to use land and how to use labor to your best advantage.
His record on legislation related to Idaho's 'Right to Work (for less)" laws, clearly indicates that he's a member of the business class that understands how to get the most out of the laboring class.
I'm betting that he'll get overwhelming support from other business class members, with a special boost from any land developers and architects he's assisted over the years.
Here's hoping he didn't cash in on the abortion that is the 'Pillage at Meridian'!
It will be supremely interesting to find out what his Orwell inspired "patient-powered alternative" turns out to be.
If it's anything remotely similar to the options that became the norm in Idaho, then "patient-powered" will mean "pay-up and/or die".
Or in other words "the immense profits of the insurance companies and the medical establishment are "patient-powered".
If I'm wrong about this then we'll be hearing and seeing Filcher doing his utmost to curb the exorbitant monopoly profits of the insurance parasites and medical industry.
Based on his prior record I wouldn't advise holding your breath for the later to occur.
After all 'In Greed We Trust' is the motto these business parasites live by.
The response by Israeli leadership was predictable.
Israel continues its stance as, what the Israeli leaders themselves would refer to as, a rogue nuclear nation, in that it refuses to allow U.N. weapons inspectors any access to its nuclear facilities.
If you want to understand the actual reality that is Israel, read Max Blumenthal’s “Goliath: Life and Loathing in Greater Israel”, one of the most fearless and honest books ever written about Israel.
“Israel has been poisoned by the psychosis of permanent war. It has been morally bankrupted by the sanctification of victimhood, which it uses to justify an occupation that rivals the brutality and racism of apartheid South Africa. Its democracy—which was always exclusively for Jews—has been hijacked by extremists who are pushing the country toward fascism. Many of Israel’s most enlightened and educated citizens—1 million of them—have left the country. Its most courageous human rights campaigners, intellectuals and journalists—Israeli and Palestinian—are subject to constant state surveillance, arbitrary arrests and government-run smear campaigns. Its educational system, starting in primary school, has become an indoctrination machine for the military. And the greed and corruption of its venal political and economic elite have created vast income disparities, a mirror of the decay within America’s democracy.”
A link to Chris Hedges article on Goliath:
If anything, these two corporations need each other to perpetually re-enforce the marketing wizardry that maintains the devout religious obsession with the acquisition and use of their conspicuous consumer products.
Apple clearly still holds claim to the Holy Grail in this reach for ecstatic fulfillment.
Toss FacelessBook into the mix and you've got the ingredients for the current technologically driven decent into the hard-edged, cold, soulless world we are watching unfold before our eyes.
This is wrong, and must be stopped. I am appalled in the overall ignorance of the people. We must all come to terms in that in many cases money and the economy is simply not worth the overall costs of poisoning our water and land. Alta Mesa will forever impact our wildlife and our beautiful ecosystem, forever poisoning our water ways. Alta Mesa has no concern for the habitat and the overall health of the public. Soon they will demonstrate the out right neglect and destruction for the untouched beauty of Idaho by conducting the poisonous, detrimental process of Fracking. This exemplifies the human race going backwards in fixing the environmental issues that already impact the rest of the world.
