Re: “Save Your iPhone's Life With This Handy Case

Not sure how often you'll be dunking your phone in ketchup lol. Something that I'm interested in is how it would fair if it was lost while on the slopes. I know that it would be safe from the H20 aspect, but I have to feel like the cold would drain the phone's life fairly rapidly. On the positive of that scenario, if the person did lose their phone on the slope and it was buried under snow. They could go to icloud.com and use the find my iphone app to track it down. I recently wrote a LifeProof Case review myself on my site. I have mostly positive things to say about it. The only drawbacks I've encountered are things that people should expect to sacrifice a little for the added protection (e.g. speaker's sound). All in all it's a pretty solid case. -ZiLong http://topiphone4scases.com

Re: “Eyebrow Threading

I knew one place, they charge only $5.00 for eyebrow threading. This shop is in Garden Fresh Store -- Mundelein. Their phone# 847-857-0353. You should try this one time. Excellent services.

Re: “Xtranormal: Make a Movie Without the Movie

Red October:

No one here asked NMB to remove the ongoing thread. In fact, I don't think anyone in our editorial room even knew it once existed until a Google alert last week notified us of the xtranormal version of it.

Ask NMB admins what happened to it. Hell, we'd like 'em to restore it if they can.

We're happy to take the criticism. Notice we never delete criticism about us from our own website? Besides, we dish it out so we should be able to take it.

Re: “Xtranormal: Make a Movie Without the Movie

Nevertheless there is a perceived belief of some on that board that staff members scour the group for ideas. I don't come here pointing fingers or offering examples for that, nor do I have any memory of anything specific.

I'm more curious as to why an ongoing thread criticizing the Weekly got deleted, and if someone at the Weekly specifically notified them to complain. Because if so, my respect for this paper has gone down a notch. There aren't any known guidelines for censoring threads there. But most of the time one is censored, I'm mystified as to why it happened, that thread included. There was some legitimate criticism about this paper on that thread. The usual reason I come up with is that some thin-skinned person had their feelings butt-hurt and couldn't take the heat, and the administrator got notified as a result. Which in itself is a pretty piss-poor reason to induce censorship. No one was threatened harm or had their personal info leaked, which are the only legit reasons I would think to demand such a cause of action. So if that was the case, I'm going to think of this instance and accuse you of being flaming hypocrites the next time one of you rails against ideas and opinions being oppressed. It's such a dopey (yet sometimes entertaining) message board that gets far more credence and legitimacy than it ever should due to actions like this.

Even if this situation was done purely through the beliefs of the administrator, it's still galling that he/she would easily kowtow to the people that may have had their feelings hurt. And it only reinforces how small and insular the media scene is here. I remember seeing a thread regarding criticism of the Knitting Factory (which is quite justified in my opinion), and that thread managed to vanish after awhile as well. Why? Can no one in this city take criticism? It's like everyone involved in that scene is involved in one big clusterf*#k that's afraid to rock the boat. Even Josh Gross himself managed to rock the boat, and look where that got him? People in the scene came here to piss and moan about his criticism. Hate to tell you, but we are not in some sort of Utopian world here. There are artists here that do not deserve the recognition no matter what praise their local friends are trying to spoonfeed you.

Re: “Xtranormal: Make a Movie Without the Movie

The above isn't true. BW discovered xtranormal.com when someone sent us this link.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7eLuTk5L9g

This article was actually written before the video posted on the Neurolux message board was even created, but its publication was delayed because of the winter holiday. Good try though.

Re: “Xtranormal: Make a Movie Without the Movie

They got this idea from the Neurolux Message Board, which had a hilariously video posted with dialogue from a thread discussing the merits of BW as a publication. No shame, there. But someone apparently asked them to remove the thread. Not cool.

Re: “Eyebrow Threading

Wow! $15 for eye brow? That is what I spent on eyebrow, upper lip and tip in California, and the gals that did it were from India. As great as it was to find this article, that is way too pricey!

Re: “Eyebrow Threading

Have been on the lookout for threading services in Boise for quite some time now...but having found this article, I'm not excited.
$15 for eyebrow threading is way expensive. I knew people who offered threading services in Boise for just $5. Costs only $8-$10 even in NY !!

Re: “Radio Free Fernie

This is such a surprise to find such a awesome radio station coming a small town in Rocky Mountains of Canada. If you email them they respond right away and i got a great email from the guy who runs it, showing a lot of interest in my suggestions.
So many songs I thought were originals were covers. You have to give it a try.
