She is brilliant and generous. She has added enormously to our community.
I guess I just don't understand why I should care about these pretty faces. The only thing that would make them interesting is if there was a story behind them, or if any details were given about their lives or thoughts. Its boring just to see all his pretty friends making the same expression into the camera.
Im so tired of people from out of state moving here, and then thinking that they can define the essence of Idaho or define us at all while writing a cute Boise chamber of commerce type guide book or something. I was born here, and Idaho is like my mother, my home, and my state of mind. Put 20 years in here at least, if your a transplant, let the land sink into your soul, pause and think of the harm that people themselves do to anyplace where there is simply too many of them, and show some respect before you tell all your Facebook croneys how great Idaho is or who you think we are.
Too many white people. And Idaho doesn't grow corn, that's Iowa.
Exactly what I was thinking. Why are we so eager to welcome any old display of art? We need to be more discerning as a community. This is clearly such a play to all the subjects vanity. Flattery gets you far it seems.
This project seems like bull. I'm no photography expert, but what was the actual "interplay" between artist and finished product? It just looks like a photoshopped digital camera image. I do have a studio art degree, and I would like for the community to have the opportunity to engage in a real critique of this body of work before we allow it to be a representation of Boise.
In my trips to Cuba, I have witnessed freshly scrubbed children in identical, but colourful, uniforms sitting in classrooms which exit directly onto the sidewalk. Then I saw these fit slim kids enjoying themselves playing with improvised sports equipment. I also saw a country where education and healthcare are free and university is for everyone. The people seemed happy and music comes from every direction. Food, especially lobster, is as 'cheap as chips' even in the tourist currency. In many ways it benefits from not having the excesses of the USA.
This is the country to visit if you want to learn about recycling; nothing goes to waste in Cuba. They can make anything work with magical ingenuity.
There is nothing as relaxing as watching ship movements from a cafe on the Malecon; mostly Chinese, of course. They pick up nickel from Cuba to enhance the quality of their steel which they then sell to the USA. In the meantime, the USA's steel manufacturers have given up. I cannot understand why the USA doesn't use Cuban nickel and retain their steelmaking ability.
Glad they adopted my idea to make a "No Cry Challenge", I used 2 Storycorp videos in a youtube playlist called the 19 video No Cry Challenge about a year ago and the people of reddit agreed they were some of the hardest to get through. Link for the curious http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9BD5E9DCFC492580.
John Collias, I must agree with you . . . the word "Scribblism" is a great word! That is why I invented it in 2003 and purchased www.scribblism.com in 2004. The correct definition of the word Scribblism is the art and practice of the scribble. That is, to take scribbles - whether intentional or inadvertant, and look for Resemblances in the lines. Once these Replicas/Similars have been Recognized there is a process of Extraction and Utilization. It was this way of seeing the world that prompted me to later invent the Old Man in the Peanut!
I loved working at The Haunted World. I hope I'm hired again this next Halloween season!
Wilsey, ur the best boss ever and anyone who hasn't been to haunted world definately needs to go, its not your average haunted maze :-)
I would like to know where I can find a pbr tshirt with the pink elephants in a size XL?
Give all the local artist a blank looking bronco, then have them make it into art, painting it sculpting, welding it, and place them all over downtown and then have a bronco walk, where you could see all of them. Auction them all off,,, let the winner put name at bottom, and keep them fr everyone,
Another alternative for artists hoping to show their work, sell their work, and meet other artists is the Treasure Valley Artists' Alliance. TVAA is a group of about 150 local artists and we put on quarterly shows. The current exhibition, Foray 2, features 59 works by 59 local artists. Currently all our shows are hosted by Boise State Public Radio in their offices at 220 E. Parkcenter Blvd. in the Yanke Building. Any artist can join TVAA for a small annual fee. 80% of sales go back to the artist. While not a gallery, this offers an alternative for artists hoping to have their work seen (and purchased). And while this is not official gallery space, we curate and hang the shows professionally with the help of our artist members who have professional experience in mounting exhibitions. Find out more (and view our online gallery of several hundred images) at www.treasurevalleyartistsalliance.org
A thoughtful review. Thanks
William Lewis farts, and Christopher Schnoor is there to describe the bouquet.
i used to spend many a half-hour sessions watching him on television.
Boise is not ready for a lot of things, and may not ever support much of what it should. The over educated narrow minded views of the controlling factors at play seem to have a firm grip on their place. And whats worse is the trickle down attitude that is shared commonly comes from the sweat of those sort of idiots?
I imagine if Boise were to even book one of Americas real funny and cutting edge raw in your face comics the crowd if not booing at them, would not matter after the area censorship got ahold of the matter and shut it down!
Laughter can be much like the affects of drugs, mind opening and addictive, and even lead to such behavior as open public humor, humor as it happens to be is the bazar corse of normal and not viewed to be normal human actions, brought to the attention of the conscience mind.
And if a person makes a joke about a fag, a black guy, or lesbian around Boise and even gets the laugh, there will be some anal closet cock sucking state government type bringing the situation to close. If people cant find the humor in the situation and express it freely than the joke is on them, and happens to be why those are the funniest topics on tour have been and will be!
If a queer is insulted by some guy getting a laugh about sucking dick, that STOP SUCKING DICK, or get over it, guarantee the comic has no idea who the dick sucker is or much cares, it's just funny shit that people have come to accept as normal behavior! NOTHING IS NORMAL WITH OUR CURRENT HUMAN BEHAVIOR!!!
Laughter is a way to free the sole from oppression, as in Government oppression!
I like her work...she did a great job and it just amazes me how some people don't think this is cool.
