Ive been going to the 'crow' for many years, reading the other peoples unstisfactory blogs blows me away. What a bunch of self indulgent whiners! world ain perfect if your clams are a little small-due to harvest and season, or if your shrimp have a little exoeltonleft around the tail section, or if your coctail saue is a little too hot/peppery. get over it whiners! Place is a boise valley icon, dont trash it, or it may go by by with all that harris ranch crap going on around that hould be the discussion of the hour, Enjoy the crow!!!! rpk
Could've tried offering something unique in a unique part of town, but nope. Pizza. Yay. The other 10-15 pizza places within a 2-mile radius weren't enough?

'North End Pizza' doesn't sound to be much different than 'Sun Ray' right down the street, and will be directly competing with them for business, I would say!

Seriously Tara? with 3 kids, I eat at both all the time. Flatbread consistently sent back as middle of pizza is always soggy.

This is almost maddening! It sounds like the reviewer is better suited for Pizza Hut. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Flatbread but to compare these 2 and choosing Flatbread as the winner is nuts! I agree with the comment above. It must be because Flatbread pays to advertise in the Weekly. I hate being brutal here, but Tony's authentic freshness (there's nothing like it) is something that I crave on a regular basis. In fact, I'm salivating thinking about it as I type-Sounds like dinner at Tony's it is!
My name is Jared, writing through Tina's user, I don't claim to be a world pizza connoisseur, but a little about my background! I am from Italy, born and raised, I lived in Italy for 25 years and I have had the blessing of being able to eat some of the best pizzas in the world! Tony is without a doubt one of them. I feel like Tony's knowledge of pizza which spans over 130 years, since his family is from Naples and has been making pizza for that long, is superior to say the least. I unfortunately have had the misfortune of eating at Flatbread 3 times and each one of those time I felt cheated and felt like my culture was played with. Unlike in Boise, In Italy we take Pizza extremely seriously, obviously Flatbread does not. Their pizza is alway soggy and so flat flavored that makes me want to go scream at the manager and demand for my money back! but here is a promise, I will never go to Flatbread again.
I seriously have to disagree with the opinions expressed in this article. For anyone reading this comment, PLEASE try these two places out for yourself and you will see there is a clear winner: Tony's. I have given Flatbread chance after chance, each time thinking to myself, "Maybe they will do a better job this time" and EVERY SINGLE TIME I am disappointed. At Tony's, I savor each bite and always marvel at the taste and execution of his pizza. Flatbread may have the edge on marketing and influencing critics, but Tony is the expert at making pizza. Try it for yourself and you'll see what I mean.
You have completely lost your mind!!!!! Tony's is WAY BETTER!!!! I have been eating there since they have opened, and have never found any dried herbs in there sauce. It is clear that The Boise weekly is on team Flatbread, probably due to their consistent advertising dollars. I feel like the article was so obviously biased, and not well written. -Colleen Widhelm
Tony's is superior to all comers. His ingredients are wonderful, and his crust (which is the very essence of a good pizza) is the perfect depth, consistency and texture. It holds up under the toppings every time. Don't get me wrong. Flatbread is very good. The flavor of their pizza is excellent, but pizza collapsing because the crust is too soggy and flimsy is a cardinal sin and should be an immediately disqualifying factor.
BTW, as delicious as Tony's pizza is, and as much of a great guy and character the proprietor is, his antipasto alone would STILL be reason enough to visit multiple times every day. Yes. It's really that good.
I kinda expected the winner to be Casanova's, even though they're closed.
Obviously no one really talked to Tony like the seem to have done with Flatbread. His oven isn't wood fired due to the fact that he can regulate the temperature better to produce that fabulous crust! I have had this particular pizza many many times and there are no dried herbs added to any sauce. His ingredients are fresh and distributed so that the crust cooks properly. No big soggy globs. Tony's wins!
What?!? You have got to be kidding me. There is no comparison. Tony's is the superior pizza. It's not even close.
Can't believe anyone would pick Flatbread over Tony's pizza. Flatbread is always under cooked, for me. Tony's is perfect
