Re: “Video: Crouch Chamber of Commerce On Free-For-All Fireworks: 'It's Gotten Out of Hand'

We know people who have been burned and others who have had to put out grass fire caused by the fireworks. People have come from all over Idaho with crates of illegal fireworks. I can't believe Crouch still allows this, considering the lawsuit Boise Co. endured. We lived in Garden Valley and saw people lighting fireworks at Terrace Lakes right beside the "no fireworks" sign.

Re: “UPDATE: Private Clubs Challenge YMCA Property Tax Exemption

Really, if you belong to Axiom or Idaho Fitness you should drop your membership from these petty, mean-spirited, organizations. If they are so desperate that they have to resort to this, they are poor business people indeed and should not even be in business. Most likely the folks who join the Y, wouldn't have anything to do with them anyway. I hope that no churches have exercise programs. They will be after you next.

Re: “McCall to Impose Fourth of July Quota, Again, at North Beach

The 4th of July is NOT about a war ending with England! Closer to reality would be t say that it is about a war starting with England.

Re: “UPDATE: Private Clubs Challenge YMCA Property Tax Exemption

I think the question politely asked is "where are all the funds collected by the Y going?" The summer classes for kids, daycare, and adults pay little to the employees, but charge twice what the rate is in Boise parks, churches, etc. Many philanthropists make donations. So who ends up with the extra cash? The pool has been closed as a health hazard. It wasn't spent on that.

Re: “Janjou, Amaru and Guru

Just an update to the story about Amaru Confections. Since this article, Amaru Confections has moved to a new location at 217 S. Roosevelt Street in Boise. They have two separate buildings on the same site, one of which is a 100% gluten free bakery!

Re: “Hard Choices: As Boise's To-Do List Grows, So Does Tax Burden Gap

What does St Luke's pay in property taxes? How much is their suburban-scale expansion going to cost taxpayers in hard dollars, loss of public right of way, increased traffic congestion and lost connectivity between East Boise and Downtown? And why should Boise residents be forced to subsidized Luke's ongoing competition for market share with Al's?

But I digress...how long will Idaho taxpayers continue to vote for the ruling GOP and against our own economic self interests? This state model is imposed on Boise by ALEC/corporate puppets masquerading as conservatives. Their goals are to shift tax burdens from the state to local government and to undermine corporate responsibility and accountability at the expense of actual people who work for a living, pay taxes and keep the economy going.

Re: “UPDATE: Private Clubs Challenge YMCA Property Tax Exemption

I Never was a Y member until coming to the valley in September 2010, I have been amazed ever since, this organization, it's mission and most importantly the staff is the very best of what a community can possibly ask for. Just want to say Thanks for all you do, and all the lives you have made better along the way.

Re: “One Arrested at Idaho Statehouse Pro-Wolf Demonstration

Wolves are essential as an invaluable part of a healthy ecosystem. The recent Yellowstone study demonstrates this beyond any doubt. I am an Idaho resIdent & am pro-wolf. I will be voting for A.J. Balukoff, who is pro wolf.

Ridding the World of Saddam was probably worth it if only we had the good sense to stop there. Now who's got the good sense to realize that Iraq is actually 3 independent nation states? 1.Kurdestan 2.Sunniland 3.Shialand But I share your opinion of the BCR Bunch.

Re: “UPDATE: Private Clubs Challenge YMCA Property Tax Exemption

Further, let's point out what happens if/when IAC and Axiom get their way. How will this seriously effect those all involved in the Y?
I'm genuinely concerned that the underlying goal is to strong-arm the Y into being a small little wayside to the corporate interests, I.E. would most programs be in fact shut down?

Re: “UPDATE: Private Clubs Challenge YMCA Property Tax Exemption

I am DUMBFOUNDED. The Y gave me an ability to workout and rehabilitate through the VA as I am a DISABLED VETERAN. NO other "gym" does anything like this. This is corporate greed and just disgusting. I am ashamed, once again, to live in this bass-ackwards eff'd up state. This won't end people, it's only getting worse. Get that useless meat-bag Otter OUT of office... get those other useless meat-bags out of office, and let's get some actual GROWTH in this state. We ARE the laughing-stock of the rest of the country for SO MANY REASONS this year alone.

I've spent an hour trying to find when this meeting will start and where it will be. There is no mention of meeting times on the commission's website.. and of course.. no mention of it in this damn article. Frustrating.

Re: “One Arrested at Idaho Statehouse Pro-Wolf Demonstration

The wolves were reintroduced for what, to be killed off, poisoned, shot, stabbed, trapped, abused, torn apart by dogs, wolf pups gassed and burned alive and more. Sounds to me like wolves were set up for failure by the state of Idaho. The good people of Idaho support the wolves and are afraid to even speak up because of being constantly harassed by the anti wolf bullies.
