George, 28th and Idaho is West Downtown, not West Boise and not the West End as some are trying to rebrand it. Go to the intersection of 19th and Idaho, there's a big monument that's in-scripted "West Downtown." Search craigslist for ads by the phrase "west downtown" and see what area comes up.
It could cost you, but many auto parts stores offer a free check engine light diagnostic. I came across this website recently and it helped me to save a little money with my car repairs. I had no idea why my check engine light came on and so after searching around found this site: http://boise.checkenginefree.com
after finding a location on the above site near me that offers free check engine light diagnostics I was then able to have a better idea of what was wrong with my car before taking it to a mechanic. I think if I hadn't have done that I would have paid more to the mechanic.
It's a failure of our health system. If psychiatrists would be required to report evidence of mental imbalance the same way doctors must report evidence of child abuse, that info could be passed to NICS and those folks would no longer pass the background check. Remember the Aurora theater? His doctors knew he was whacko for months before he acted.
How do you tell the difference? I sell guns to people everyday, usually with no waiting period at all. If you have an ID and a clean background it's yours. I have no way of telling if someone is "mentally balanced". And not all unbalanced people have a past that would keep them from passing the background check
Don't spend any more money on an idea that will be used by very few.
Bill Cope. I appreciate your observations on education. It's a gold mine. But first you have to convince the citizens its a wasteland so they give it up. http://www.publicschoolshakedown.org/ Saying what you are saying.
Let's keep guns out of the hands of the mentally deranged. Taking guns away from law abiding and mentally balanced folks won't make anyone safer.
If the speed limit was 100 mph in our country...some would still choose to drive slower in a safe manner, others would drive the speed limit & make fatal mistakes, while others would drive wreckless & ignore the laws, causing tragic accidents with innocent victims. Thus...we have speed limits & no one is allow to drive 100mph, in order to maintain control of the masses. As the same should be with guns....get rid of them to maintain control.
Hey, it's only other people's money, so it's like free! 54% of a minuscule sampling want light rail? Were they given the costs before they were asked to decide? Hint. No.
Interesting that there is still controversy over equal rights, when our Constitution states that "all men are created equal". Separation of church and state should continue to block personal prejudices, even when cloaked in religious dogma, from interfering with human rights under the law.
SNA? What's that?
If you meant to say SRA, they are not touting dams, for sure. Nuclear industries are dirty from the very start. Mining uranium either here or elsewhere leaves radioactive tailings that continue to pollute and endanger for thousands of years. There is NO reliable way to control the waste generated by the nuke industries. The US hoped that WIPP in NM would be an answer for some of it; WIPP had a disastrous fire and spread plutonium rad for miles over Carlsbad and nearby. No way will Yucca Mtn. ever be opened up--it's over earthquake zones and its bedrock is unstable. Your ignorance about the nuclear industries is staggering. Look up WIPP online. See EneNews about the consequences of Japan's 3 meltdowns and effects on Ocean animals and ecosystems.
Won't change anything. Guns still count more than people, in politics, just like profits. SSDD....move along.
That's going to put a damper on things.
Will their be free parking lots so that people can hop on the "whatever transportation system" to get to downtown or park events?
Bike Share program is a joke and will fail, Boise has the bikes but they end up in the hills with tons of cars at the trailheads. How about enforcing the existing laws? The BPD does one bike ticketing sting every three years, maybe that can be improved, when they run out of dogs to shoot. Once we get our American League of Bicyclist ranking the cards will be on the table, I am guessing it will be more like a Bronze level...
This Census stat is just wrong. Boise has some bikes, but no where near 3.7% of us are commuting by bike. I commute by bike, but rarely encounter other bike commuters in cold weather. I suspect that this poll was taken during the summer months, commitment drops when the weather gets cold here.
Fairness, i can tell you how "Conky" was 100 words. The version the judges read was 101 words.
When it went to print a very important adjective at the end of the story was omitted. Should have read. ..
"You are a beautiful fungus among us."
In cities with a history of residential in the core the model is there: three or more feet of elevation above the sidewalk gives a sense of separation and privacy.
What if the state handled marriage more like a covenant between two (or more) consenting adults and essentially handled it like a public recording office? In theory this would require people to draft agreements and require them to be much more educated about the legal aspects of marriage while at the same time not infringing on anyone's religious beliefs (baring extreme and offensive crimes such as slavery, coercion, or fraud).
To feel offended or to not feel offended is the readers choice. Feeling offended is part of life. Using that as an excuse to become a homicidal maniac is truly not a very good reason Professor. And that isn't my opinion, sir, it's a fact.
