Re: “Your Health Idaho: Deadline to Finalize Health Plan is April 15

Single male in Idaho here. I have had about 3 or 4 Jobs in this state, I used to get paid alot more, I now work minimum wage at a business that was affected by this act as well, so we do not get many hours like the rest of you. I am happy enough to have a job doing something I like so I really am not complaining about that. It just is what it is. I would like to let you all know where I am coming from. It has never been convenient for a single male who is not on some kind of welfare in this state to get affordable and fair healthcare. Single males do not usually get on welfare here in this state unless if they are diagnosed with some kind of society affecting mental disorder.

Most of us single males choose not to be lazy or want to accept a handout like that. We would rather self medicate than do that. So when you see all of my brothers from Idaho, who are in jail for drug charges, they now actually have better access to healthcare now that they are in jail or prison, and the sad thing about that... is that our prisons are being accused of not providing adequate health care. I think it is pretty funny. Society has turned me into a cynic, and for that I apologize. When all of these bass ackwards laws are passed, why aren't we asking ourselves, ok who is this going to benefit? And has not history shown widespread abuse of systems when government provided medical assistance is handed out, and the people are almost always the ones who get abused. Welfare and Medicare, yes I am sorry but I have seen the big picture and I see now how it really is designed to keep the people poor, I have experienced many examples in 20 years.

Here's my experience with health care in this state. I paid in a plan 6 months through an employer once, I used it one time and still paid high upfront costs, so after not using it after getting sick that time I decided, why waste all this cash, it's a drain. The excuses to have health insurance make no sense on a market that is ridiculously expensive. Then when I did get sick again, Since bailing on insurance I was doing fine paying what I thought was fair for what I was provided in the emergency room visits, for pain pills or stitches or the like without insurance, I would pay them a few hundred because it was what i could afford. (Was about what I paid up front with insurance) The system found out quickly that any charges over 1000 can go ahead and go to collections because I did not ask to be charged that, I would of avoided them If I knew the price. Thus my very core being feels honestly and morally justified when I say no collections, I will not pay your ridiculous asking price, I will go for street alternatives even if it is for surgery. Being in my class of wealth I have never signed up a credit card, and somehow your collections is going to make me cry about my credit rating, I couldn't hope to own a home, or get a new car if I wanted to these days so why need I care.

There is nothing about this whole "Affordable Care Act" That is Affordable or Caring for me or my people, I have looked at my options for health care. Unlike a lot of people who like to complain about things they know nothing about, I actually try to see what my options are and usually keep my opinions to myself. But when I see that the IRS is threatening me by taking money I earn at the end of the year, the money that was already taken by the Fed and the State, Do you think that is supposed to scare me into buying into a system that will drive me further into a state of being broke all the time? This by all means is not a complaint. I am writing this is to let you all know what I am going to do about it. I am either, going to buy a type of insurance that is compatible with all state laws, that is not offered by this great market place you have. At a fraction of the cost. If that does not work, I might just stop filing taxes for a while, even if this market place gave me free insurance, I wouldn't take it because I really do not want to depend on the federal government for my well being. If you really cared about me, why don't you try supporting me to be independent to see what great things I would be able to accomplish that could be mutually benefiting. I refuse to travel down this one way street. Money doesn't stress me out like the system forces most of us too.

Re: “Boise Wants to Snuff Out E-Cigarettes Among City Employees

Just Another John Smith: E-cigarettes contain nicotine! That is why there is a warning label on all vapor products sold for them! Duh! As for the other products listed they too contain nicotine and will not help a smoker to quit smoking...just trading one bad habit for another! Get a clue it is the nicotine that keeps the smoker, chewer, snuffs using...it attaches to brain cells and causes the addiction. You must either wean off or go cold turkey to quit.

Re: “Teachin' and Packin'

Just to clarify, if I was caring concealed and someone started shooting up the campus while I was on it... I'm going to go find a dark hole and hide. I am not a swat officer, a policeman or a trained professional in how to actively clear a room. In short, if you know I'm around you and expect me to come to you, you better hope that we are family, because I am not putting my life on the line for you.

However, if you are behind me or in the same room as I am... there's a good chance that I might protect you.

So Mick and all the liberal sheep, if your on Campus, unless your standing next to me, I am not going to save your sorry butt and risk my life for you... so get over your self righteous pompous attitude that I want to be John Wayne, I don't and I won't...

Re: “U.S. Supreme Court Will Not Hear Appeal on Ruling Against Photographers Who Nixed Same-Sex Ceremony

I know you BLT people are reading this, and I'm really curious... why do you want to force someone to do a crappy job at a major life event for you, when you could find someone that likes you, cares about you and would do a better job?

This statement just baffles me...

Loved to read your blog. I would like to suggest you that traffic show most people read blogs on Mondays. So it should encourage blogger to write new write ups over the weekend primarily

Re: “Teachin' and Packin'

The flaw in your logic. Thinking the law preventing said BF from bringing a gun on campus will also prevent her murder. What MIGHT prevent her murder is someone that can protect her with a lawfully concealed firearm. Murder is already against the law. Gun free zones do not work as they only disarm those they obey laws.

Re: “Bunny Buffet

Reply to Jessica - Yes, all animals have (or should have) similar rights not to be harmed. Sadly if you're allowing (or instructing) your children to eat rabbits and other animals, you are teaching your children to disregard this basic right. You are giving them a fine example on how to bully those smaller, more helpless than you. It demonstrates an attitude of might makes right... After all, we do not require flesh to thrive and be satisfied.

Re: “As Parents Struggle to Repay Their Children's College Loans, Taxpayers Also Stand to Lose

According to DegreeRegistry.org, a general MBA can be obtained for as little as $6k and as high as $120k. If students would do a little research, they would find that it is not nearly as expensive to get a college degree.

Re: “Boise Wants to Snuff Out E-Cigarettes Among City Employees

Proven that they do not help with smoking cessation. Also because it's unregulated there is no way to know what is in your smoking "vapor" it's not water vapor it's mostly glycerin. and to top it all off and why we made people quit smoking everywhere is because it STINKS! the E-cig smoke stinks. Admittedly not as bad as cigarette smoke.

Most people using e-cigs are trying to stop smoking. Why is the world would the City be discouraging this?!

Re: “Video: Idaho State Police, Feds Raid 'Mansion Bash'

Apparently, the people that rented the mansion don't know how to abide by the contract they signed, and the owner of the place expected that they would, and took action to stop them.

If you post about illegal activities you are going to have at a certain place, what are you expecting to happen? Duh?

Re: “U.S. Supreme Court Will Not Hear Appeal on Ruling Against Photographers Who Nixed Same-Sex Ceremony

I have a question for all you GBLT people... if one of the highlights of your life, like mine was, is getting married, and you want to remember it for how great it was... just how good are the pictures going to be from a person that you FORCE to take your picture? Just how good is that cake going to taste from someone that you FORCE to make your cake?

Really? Why would you WANT to do business with someone that doesn't like you? Wouldn't you rather have someone that likes and cares about you and your special day work for you? Why do you want to force someone to do a crappy job for you?

Re: “Mr. Cope’s Cave: Did Voters Have to Show an ID in Afghanistan?

And just so everyone is clear with my position on voting... everyone should have to present a form of State ID when voting for a state position, and a Federal ID when voting for a president.

You know, prove that you live here so that we don't have millions of votes from people that have no rights as an American citizen to vote.

I'm sure American's got to vote in the Afgan elections or the Canadian elections? This is AMERCIA... if your not AMERCIAN, you don't get to VOTE!!!! PERIOD!

Oh, one other small little note here... we are not a democracy... never was, and shouldn't ever be... look it up.

Re: “As Parents Struggle to Repay Their Children's College Loans, Taxpayers Also Stand to Lose

Why in the world are parents taking out loans for their children's education? Stupid, stupid, stupid...

Cut the umbilical cord, that's the problem with parents these days, afraid to let their children fail, and next thing you know the 35 year old is living at home with mom and dad still smoking dope because they can't get a job, because you know, the minimum wage isn't high enough to live on your own when you work at Walmart.

That's an interesting comment Bill... kinda like how law abiding gun owners think about what we have to go thru to buy a gun these days.... So who is suppressing who here?

Just curious, all the horrible acts by right wing people, would those be the self righteous, hypocrite people like Leland Yee in California? Oh wait, he's not a right wing nut. Hmm...

Oh yes, and the war on women, like the current presidential administration? That one? That has seen the pay for women in it's administration drop compared to men?

There is extremism on both sides, how about letting us know how the liberal left is socializing America? That's worked really well so far in history for those that have tried it, hasn't it?

Re: “Bunny Buffet

I raise meat rabbits. I'd rather know that the animal had a good life and was not mistreated before it died, than buy it from a store and have no idea if it was treated correctly or not. I want to know what the animal I am eating has ingested. Meat from the store has traveled a long way via truck, emitting tons of noxious gasses into the air. It is full of hormones, fed GMO food. I really don't see why a rabbit makes more fuss than another animals. Is it an immoral decision because one is cuter than the other? Don't all animals have similar feelings and similar "rights"? I want my children to know where food comes from. It isn't just made in the store. ALL meat has a face.

Re: “Teachin' and Packin'

Oooohhhhh.....I know the answer !! It's actually quite simple. Liberals just base their opinions and actions on emotion rather than rational thought. If it FEEEEEEELS good, they're all for it. Also, liberals are much more concerned about how their intentions are viewed, rather than the results of their actions. You can see this in effect every day - just look at this argument, Obamacare or pretty much every other liberal initiative ever. (I will admit that, on the rare occasion, they get lucky and one of their well-intentioned and feel-good plans actually works. That, of course, is the exception and not the rule).

Re: “Details Emerge as Gardner Prepares Its Proposal for Boise Multi-Modal Transit Center

Uh frank. Bieter controls most of VRTs budget. No boise money no VRT. Ergo, whatever boise wants, boise gets regarding VRT. Bieter's also has his cronies on GBAD. The majority are not independent of Bieter. Ergo, he controls GBAD decisions also. Perhaps he has no "authority". But he does have control in every way but name.
