The City of Boise plays a very savvy game of manipulating the press and younger professionals by promoting themselves as "pro-business" As a 25 year business owner in Boise with 100+ employees, I can say the City of Boise does not want value-added business in Boise as a general rule. The City of Boise's PDS folks are of very little, if any assistance for an owner of an existing business looking to expand in Boise. I know because I just went through the process with a 7 million dollar expansion. If I had to do over, I would never, ever expand in Boise. Boise has the anti-growth attitude that towns like Eugene and Bozeman have encountered. Over 95% of our 20 million of revenue is exported outside of Idaho. Average Wage here is $45,000 per year unburdened. I thought Boise wanted businesses to expand, but I found out otherwise. They folks in City Hall don't want the issues, so they are ambivalent about new manufacturer's operating in Boise. No, the powers that be are NOT pro-business development, only want to appear as such.
