mazui! (that is japanese for 'unsavory').
I read that they fly in fresh fish every day, but i could tell instantly from the smell and the taste that nothing we ordered was at all fresh.
We tried the Toro (fatty tuna) Nigiri. At 14.99 for 2 pcs, we expected it to be good. However we could smell it 3' away when it arrived. I've had Toro quite a number of times, and I had never been able to smell it. Surprised I tried to eat it but it was so old and stringy I could not chew through a piece. I had to actually spit it out! I couldn't even pull it apart with my hands, it was literally the worst piece of fish I've ever been served in my life.
The spicy tuna was just as bad, about 1/2" in diameter (a quarter the size of a regular sushi roll in the other sushi establishments in Boise) and very fishy tasting.
The sushi on the menu is a variation of the following:
rice + cream cheese + avocado + crab + fish.
Every roll has crab, avocado and cream cheese! Every roll is a California roll!
As the reviewer above me pointed out, if you actually like fish/sashimi/sushi, do not come here. Stick with the actually good places in town like Shigei or Superb. If you're a typical american who only likes fried shrimp and california rolls, well, dig in.
