Better get used to safe art in your public museums. During the Cold War there was an explosion of art expression. The public and private funds supporting emerging artists and museums in the 50's,60's and 70's was seen as a expression of freedom enjoyed by the West and United States as opposed to the strict realisim and propaganda art flogged on by the Communist Iron Curtain regimes. The end of the Cold War was the end of public funding for the arts as priorities shifted. Now the freedoms we enjoy are being underwritten by global corporatized foundations with strict oversight over artistic expression. Our Supreme Court has given corporations the same rights as citizens.
It is very expensive to run a public museum. Look who pays the bills. Connect the dots. I'm sure the Boise Art Museum is not relevant to many in our community, like the Tea Party folks, not just artists. If you want change, challenge the BAM board of directors to make changes. The staff, even the annointed deciders, work to please the board.
Haven't seen too many minorities working at McDonalds lately. Did they move on to higher paying jobs?
Sorry but Righty=Whitey no matter what. Any party can find a shill for what ever they want. The rightwing is not a big tent. Cope is right, it's a pup tent usually with a guy like Larry Craig waiting to be your best bunkmate. The constant rag about minorities taking jobs from whites is a joke. Next time you go to a fast food joint or car wash check out how many whites are workin again behind the grill or a rag bucket. Whites are working on sprinkler lines again. Might be some cleaning hotel rooms too. Did the minorities quit for higher paying jobs?
