If you really missed that he purposefully was trying to mess with the crowd, you weren't paying attention. He started out by saying "BOYZEE" several times, knowing that we pronounce it BOY-C not BOY-Z (thanks Ward). He knew our turf was blue and that we had an awesome quarterback and that no one, even potato farmers like being known only for their potatoes.
I saw the original Smashing Pumpkins line up in 1996 in a huge arena and it was good. But to see Billy play in a smaller venue was ten times better. Bill was and always has been "The Smashing Pumpkins", unless you like the sappy slow shit James wrote. Move on, it is what it is.
