Re: “Cigarette Tax to be Visited Again at Statehouse Friday

Are these people just stupid. Its illegal for kids to purchase tobacco now, how could adding more tax prevent them from "purchasing" any tobacco product? Stop trying to make a "few" people pay for the failures of our elected officials. How about we just add a dime to a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread and use the money for schools and any other program that helps kids.

Re: “High Court Rules on Mega-Loads

The last study I read indicated that one large loaded truck has the same impact on the roadway as 9,600 autos. So what impact does a super heavy truck load have on the same roadway? Sadly, the route is not limited to just the state highway as local roads will also feel the weight of the super heavy loads. Who will pay when those roads are damaged and how long will it take to get the money. Does the gulf oil spill mean anything to you? Drive around the state and you will witness first hand the effects of the change in our state law that allowed for heavier truck loads. Try riding those same roads on a motorcycle.

Re: “High Court Rules on Mega-Loads

When the very heavy loads destroy the roadway don't come whinning to me, I won't have any sympathy. Spend a little time driving around the state and you will see first hand the damage those trucks can cause. The route isn't limited to the state highway, local and county roadways will also feel the weight of those excessive loads. Who will pay for those repairs and how long will it take to collect money for the damages?
