Went this past Friday night for the first time for karaoke. Invited my Mom and best friend. They only had the one bartender working and she was crabby and really busy. Kept coming over and washing everyone tables while they were still sitting at the tables...would make you move your drinks and purses to do it. Asked my Mom not to stack her shot glasses. The drinks were pretty spendy for a dive bar. Ladies rest room was clean, smelled nice, but really small. The crowd was a mix of older (30+) regulars and college kids. All were friendly but kept to themselves mostly. Karaoke was supposed to start at 9pm but the DJ didn't get there till 9:30 and then was too busy helping out the bartender to start Karaoke. The Karaoke books were really sticky and the pages were out of order. Didn't start singing till 11pm. Then one of my song numbers was messed up on my slip and instead of being nice like most bar DJ's and looking up my song for me. He says rudely "Well that the number on the paper, and that's the song that came up, so there's your song!" No one clapped after songs or really cared that you were singing much. We got a little Karaoke fan crowd going after a while. I will not be going back to Overland Bar for Karaoke again or recommend it because of poor service and just plain bad Karaoke etiquette. There are plenty of other great bars in the valley with Karaoke to spend your money at avoid this place.
