In 2010 damage by wolves pulled resource off of coyotes and on to wolves..... in the process damage by coyotes skyrocketed. Thank you derby organizers for helping keep government control to a minimum. People that pimp wolves in order to get "donate now" buttons pressed need to be held accountable.
That is the issue isn't it Kayla..... POOR WOLF HABITAT!
WRONG..... other ranchers in that area have certainly had issues! That $100,000 should be paid by Kayla Wolfdog & Suzanne Stone.
I hope the thing that changes is that the states wolf management plan is followed so that the population of wolves is not so saturated around the ranches. Suzanne Stone should be charged with animal abuse for wanting saturated wolves all across the west. Seems like the only animals she cares for are the ones that get donate now buttons pressed. What she is asking some of these ranchers to do is extremely costly and could put the ranchers out of business with extra feed and oversight needed for her fantasy utopia.
The wolf huggers need to anti-up.......and dust off the wallet. They have been living off the government for way to long. Especially the federal goverment. My federal government couldn't afford their garbage last year, or the year before, or next year.
Lemke, The BLM will spends 75 million dollars this year on wild horses..... because your ilk says we cannot bring the animal in for slaughter! (glue) The BLM will also spend countless dollars defending these leases from law suits from the environmental obstructionist you appear to of have taken a shine to. People of your mentality continue to make it difficult to control predators & make these transition BLM lands the neighbors from hell to the ranchers. Don't blame the rancher for the costs associated with BLM lands. The grazing dollars brought in by the BLM are adequate to their value to the rancher and a source of income for the BLM.
If you feel that all federal lands & the wildlife on them should have the same treatment as the ones in Yellowstone then we have an issue. You and your ilk think that public lands the meet private can have unlimited predators & the predators respect that boundary! The real world don't work that way. We also know that with the wolf it is no longer about it being an endangered animal. It's certainly about anti-ranching and anti-hunting!
After the fires 4 years ago my cousins had to find grazing for some of their cattle off the ranch. The value of some of these predator ridden areas is not worth as much as the prime lush valleys homesteaded years ago. If the BLM is not making money on these leases it's because of a poorly managed system or more likely a bureaucratic system that is bogged down by environmental obstructionist!
Lemke, Why is it that the local support for this animal (the wolf) is at an all time low? Real wolf lovers understand the limitations of this animal & the need for some kind of control! If not, your just an anti-rancher, anti-hunter that likes to spend tax dollars forcing this animal upon the locals instead of spending it on wolf habitat protection.
Lemke, enjoy the weekend. When ya get back please explain to everyone how coyotes kill more livestock than wolves. Does it have something to do with the fact that they are in every state from one end to the other? If coyotes were only in wolf range would they kill as much livestock as wolves? What is the leading cause of mortality for livestock in Idaho Co Idaho? (wolves? Coyotes?) What do the livestock coyote deaths in states like Texas, Nebraska and predator paradise California have to do with the ones in Central Idaho? Have you compared the coyote livestock deaths in Central Idaho to the wolf livestock deaths in central Idaho?
Statistics say that at these population levels 1/3 of all wolf packs in the Greater Yellowstone area will depredate on livestock or pets. Americans harvest about 400,000 every year with a population of 1.2 million. If 1/3 of 1.2 million coyotes kill a $2000 dollar calf/cow they would cause 800 million dollars in damage (confirmed) each year....... Your coyote argument is pretty lame & only deepens the resolve of ranchers to put an end to the proliferation of the wolf!
