And my rating is 5 stars!
Dear Anthony Benson, I know you want us to accept you as a deep thinker, but when the only "conservative" figures you mention in your overlong letter are reactionary racists Pat Buchanan and Ann Coulter, you reveal the shallowness of your own thinking. And then there's the Tea Party, whose principles you appear to espouse but which has arisen at a time when federal income taxes are at an historic low. Talk about an inconvenient truth! I ask, admittedly rhetorically, Is this the best you and your fellow "conservatives" can do? Sadly enough, it seems to be.
Cope nails it! It's been a long time since the Republicans had anything to offer the country, but until the last 2 years they've been able to hide the fact with lies and propaganda. Now even those don't work. The would-be Emperors have no clothes, and we can all see it.
Odd how the same people who consistently disagree with Cope nevertheless read him and then comment just as consistently. We all need something to give our lives meaning, and for many of the Treasure Valley's "conservatives," Cope is it. I bet a psychologist would have something interesting to say about that.
Tony's and Casanova Pizzeria serve far and away the best Italian pizzas in town. Unlike thegoodsword I've had excellent personal service at Tony's, and I wonder if he/she is confusing it with some other place.
The only upside to Idaho politics these days is that ignorance and laziness are no longer impediments to higher office. You just have to join the right party. Ain't it wonderful?
Is this what passes for intelligent debate around here, Patience? Go ahead and Baaah! your head off. I'm interested in debating people who have enough sense to deal with the issues. And while you're at it, give up on the "from whence." It's ignorant.
Damn brilliant column! Amazing that Idaho and the country have enough money to give millionaires and billionaires tax breaks, but can't pay their own workers a decent wage. And funny that now that the Republicans and so-called conservatives have created a huge recession, it's necessary for the rest of us to "tighten our belts." How on earth do Idahoans keep falling for this nonsense? We allegedly prize our rugged independence, but we act just like sheep at a slaughterhouse being led around by a Judas goat. And all that the Republicans and "conservatives" knocking Cope and others like him can say is Baaaah!
