Personally, I would have preferred to stay out of it all together. However, once the UN Resolution passed, and the UN and NATO got involved, we did have treaty obligations to support the action. So long as our involvement continues to be (relatively) minor - a few missile and air strikes - and Britain and France continue to do the majority of the work, I won't get *too* upset. Just so long as we don't get sucked into dirt-side support...
"I don't understand what's opening up a can of worms about allowing us our second amendment rights," countered Marriott.
Yeah, we'll go from zero-tolerance to second amendment rights "enforced" at school. That'll work out well.
Hello, Mr Marriott, we're not talking about (theoretically) mature and responsible adults, we're talking about children. Children are, generally speaking, not particularly good at understanding consequences of actions. They think in terms of Now, not Later.
The U of I story seems like a good argument *against* this new law. After all, what we all want in a crisis is a bunch of amateur wannabe cowboys thinking they can get in the line of fire and "help", rather than just getting the hell out of the way and letting the cops do their job. Oh, and suing later because they were allowed to be that stupid (not to mention that after the first started returning fire, idiot 2 would just be hearing gunfire from 2 locations, and is as likely to shoot idiot 1 as the original sniper).
"Time and time again we see proof in society that an armed citizenry does indeed reduce the amount of crime that exists in communities," said Simpson.
I'm so sick of the "Armed society is a polite society" bull****. There's so many counter-examples. To choose one close to home, the Wild West earned the nickname for a reason.
"We Republicans are here to cut wasteful spending and downsize the government! Wait, is that agency doing its job quietly and efficiently? We'd better add congressional oversight to all its decisions!"
I'm confused Marv, what is this door you're afraid of opening?
