Oh, and in the event of a tie, it's a COIN TOSS. Literally...
I'd also like to mention that many people at the district offices got IPads this year - apparently left over money from a grant. And they get an automobile allowance to drive to schools.
So roughly 7000 people voted for the levy, the rest either against or didn't vote. And there are 70,000 parents in Meridian. Perhaps those parents need to start getting involved in education.
Additionally, evaluations were done before the rubric came out, so most teachers didn't fight for the "distinguished" category. Especially given our "evaluations" were usually about 10 minutes of actual observation.
