Re: “In Stunning Reversal, Idaho Prison Officials Ban Use of 'Barbaric' Dry Cells

I wonder if it is the best thing to isolate someone who is suicidal in the first place. On the other hand they most often need constant surveillance and limited access to objects that might make suicide more easily accomplished. Perhaps there are ways to provide the supervision and support without isolating the suicidal inmate. Perhaps other inmates identified as able to be supportive companions could be trained, paid and utilized to be part of a team that works with suicidal inmates. Perhaps there are other approaches as well that could be utilized without causing excessive costs. Maybe we need a task force to explore the issue and come up with recommendations.

Re: “Outside the Box: The Art of Fighting City Hall (Over Traffic Box Art)

Hmmm... $1,474.00 to the company that copies the artist's work to a decal and applies the decal, and $1,000 to the artist. Makes one wonder what is being promoted here; art or copying? Still the city should be applauded for their move to promote art and to help beautify some otherwise eyesores. I would like to see some unique bike rack sculptures like they have in Lewiston.

Re: “KTVB: Students, Parents Rally to Support Eagle HS Teacher

The Meridian or West Ada School district school board has much great issues to deal with then whether a teacher used a couple of cuss words. At the top of the list should be answering the question "Why is it that Meridian High School has the lowest per student expenditure of any similar sized high school in the nation?", and "What are we going to do about it?"

Re: “Starbucks Makes Dramatic Change to Employee Scheduling After NY Times Expose'

"Clopening" (why does my iPhone keep trying to insert "clowning") sounds more like roboting. After all computers are robots and if they are creating the schedule they must assume they are scheduling for robots. By the way has SCOTUS declared robots people yet?

Re: “UPDATE: Private Clubs Challenge YMCA Property Tax Exemption

Steve Appleton is probably rolling in his grave to see Axiom take such action against the YMCA. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Re: “HP Takes $8.8B Writedown For 'Serious Accounting Improprieties'

Laying off 27,000; screwing up and losing $8,800,000,000.00: I'd say the CEO should get a multimillion dollar bonus like most CEO's in similar circumstances; and HP and the CEO be given a tax break and both labeled a "job creator" by John Boehner.

Re: “Army Suicide Rates Reach New High in July

I went to war one day
A fight for democracy
To protect our freedom
So they told me
Lonely separation
From my wife and family
Infidelity and divorce
Unexpected extra tours
Having the people I am "saving"
Turn on me
And try to kill me
Plus seeing my close buddies
Dismembered or maimed
Seeing innocent civilians
Women and children
Killed by our hands
These are the things
They didn't tell me
No wonder I am suicidal
