I can honestly say that this is one of the best places that I have ever eaten... anywhere! The food is exceptional, the environment homey, and the staff are wonderful. I am shocked and a little bit annoyed by some of the other comments that have been posted about several things, but specifically the comments about the pressure to order wine. My husband and I do not drink, and have never felt pressured, embarrased, or uneasy about not ordering any wine. We have been here several times and can honestly say that we have loved every single thing that we have ordered. Yes, it might be a bit more expensive than other restaurants in Boise, but the Chef chooses the best quality of fresh food, and the food is as good as it gets.
The comments about the service being poor and feeling put out about having to ask for the check is also ridiculous. This is supposed to be an enjoyable evening, one where being able to relax and enjoy the company of others at the table with you, is to be expected. If you want to eat and leave, go to a fast food place or the a place like Red Robin (or any other restaurant which tastes exactly the samein Boise), and feel the pressure of your server's eyes wanting you to leave ASAP. I can honestly say that I enjoy being able to have a quiet evening, where I can take my time, have wonderful food, and not feel rushed to leave so that others can take my table.
In regards to not leaving full after you ate your dinner... are you sure you ate at Le Coq Rouge? The portions here are very large and one would have to have a hefty appetite to even think about finishing an entree alone. My husband and I will often share an entree, and leave feeling completely satisfied. Sounds to me like someone from another restaurant is trying to make this place look poor, so that others won't find out about it... but the word is getting out and it will be an experience that one is likely to crave weekly. Thanks Le Coq Rouge for coming to Boise, and for providing great food and service!
