Professional Artist with studios in Dallas & Boise.
BAM staff does a great job! From the security staff & volunteer greeters (always helpful) to those who develop the educational programming (ever creative & fun). Response from the thousands of school children who visit each year is a delight to behold. Bravo to the Executive Director, Curating Staff, Museum Store and all who were part of bringing the 'Nick Cave Collection' to Boise. It has all of us creatively re-thinking how we re-cycle and re-use our throw aways. And, First Thursday's at BAM have never been better. Well done all!
Sir Robert Motherwell said, "Art is much less important than Life, but what a poor life without it." I was brought up to believe that, to be truly civilized, we must have a written & spoken language, art, music and dance. The U.S. is far behind most other cultures in all catagories of the Arts & Humanities. Most of our great artists, musicians, dancers and authors have to spend time abroad to hone their crafts and be appreciated for their talents. With the exception of this nations First Citizens -- the Native American tribes -- who have been celebrating all these things in their cultures for thousands of years. We continually take away their lands, foul their drinking water with pollution, oppress their language, distroy their cave and rock drawings, slaugther millions of animals, send their children away to 'white' schools, leave them in the foulest of poverty . . . . they struggle on to keep their land and water pure, their animals honored, their children cherished and their language, music and dance alive. We are a young nation but have so much to learn. If we would just be still and listen!
