Thanks, Les. We've fixed it.
In response to the comments posted on this piece about genetically modified organisms, GMOs, we reached out to Whole Foods to clear up the issue.
A statement received from Matt Collins, Marketing and Community Relations for Whole Foods Market, Boise included this clarification:
“Whole Foods Market offers customers options for avoiding foods that are intentionally grown from genetically engineered seeds. We offer many organic choices: producers who supply products that are certified organic are not permitted to use genetically engineered seeds to produce those crops. We require our vendors who produce our 365 Everyday Value products to source plant ingredients from non-GMO sources. We also support the work of the Non-GMO Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the use of non-GMO ingredients. Many of Whole Foods Market’s 365 Everyday Value products have been evaluated by the Non-GMO Project and include the Non-GMO Project Verified seal. Shoppers can choose organic and look for the Non-GMO Project Verified seal. “
We regret the error.
Mistie, thanks so much for adding that. And thanks for pointing out the comparison, slfisher.
