It might be worth mentioning that the main Nickelback fans are folks that haven't put a lot of effort into searching for music. If you don't go out of your way to look for music, Nickelback will find you, on the radio, public places, etc. It's catchy since it's less technical and with your narrowed horizons you don't realize that it's about as dumbed down of a musical experience as you can get, they become your favorite band, and you pay for it out of pocket at the stadium instead of with your time that you could've used looking for something better, and with tools like internet radio that suggests new music to you being widely and freely available there's less excuses than ever for being in the situation. This is the root of this ancient argument, if you truly want to help those who don't know where to start maybe push them in the right direction, otherwise you are trolling those who don't know any better, intentionally or unintentionally as it may be.
