Re: “Worse Than Snowden?

As interesting as Snowden is--and for the record, this "he's a coward" bullshit is completely unwarranted considering the treatment Bradley Manning is getting at the moment--it's not the issue.

Snowden himself has become the red herring. He's secured his little place in history. Good for him. The issue we should be discussing is what we're going to do now that it's beyond speculation that we, the people, are considered the enemies of our own government. The road we're on leads to a very dark place, a place where Mao's China and Stalin's USSR found themselves on. Our sacred Constitution is in tatters and won't protect us. We are not immune to tyranny. We are currently mired in it and won't accept it. Snowden's contribution will be to help us accept it.

Re: “Jack's Urban Meeting Place Approved By Planning and Zoning Commission

Looks pretty awesome. My one complaint: I heard there was going to be a tractor display (could be wrong, of course). I submit that we have 99.9% of the state for tractors. Can our one, tiny corner of an urban environment be without tractors? Please?

Re: “Obama: U.S. Needs Immigration Reform; Crapo Suggests Guest Worker Program

@Wakjob--classic false cause logical fallacy

@Sheesh--look at the nationwide United Farm Workers program designed to get Americans to work farm jobs. 8,600 applications, 7 Americans took a job. http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/farm-w… Or how about the Georgia program to fill 11,000 missing farm jobs with unemployed probationers--all of whom quite by the second day. http://www.statesman.com/news/nation/georg…

@Crapo--guest worker programs already in place are a giant, bureaucratic failure and every politician knows it. This is just your average "I've got a solution that won't work but it might shut some people up" politicking.

I wrote over 1,000 articles on immigration policy last year, and sad to say, I think the best solution is to let everybody argue and piss and moan while illegal immigrants make sure we get fed. It's perfect: politicians get votes with a divisive issue, the U.S. continues it's tradition of capitalizing on slavery, and everybody eats while not having to pay $20 for a cucumber.
