I am no supporter of Zimmerman, but this article (or whatever it is) is severely lacking in the fact check department. First: Martin was 17, not 14. Second: The Stand Your Ground law was never used as a defense in the trial. Third: Stand Your Ground laws have been used as defense more often by black people than whites. So, the contention that it benefits whites and was written so black people could be murdered is a sack of lardy horseshit.
There is no excuse for this.
Having more than a few interactions with the Canyon County Sheriff's Deputies at Lake Lowell, I can tell you that the fear, distrust and disdain for "Law Enforcement" is not caused by rhetoric from Washington. Mr. Donahue, you exacerbate the problem by hiring arrogant, rude, and obnoxious bullies and it appears that your culture is one that attracts those people. Most of my fellow Canyon County residents don't trust anyone wearing a badge...and that legacy is on you Mr. Donahue, not Obama.
The food that you simpering fools buy doesn't come from factory farms. You all want "local, free range" everything and those animals need to be protected or you don't get to consume it. I, on average, take out at least one predator per week actively killing my chickens. If I didn't, then my egg suppliers would be gone in no time. Funny the folks talking about being lazy, when you have no idea what a day of hard labor actually entails. Go work on a farm for your next vacation, then report back on how hard they don't work or how easy it is to protect animals from predators.
Don't worry, we will keep your "local, free range chickens" and "love, grass-fed beef" safe from predators. Sit there in your city house or apartment, getting your food from Whole Foods and the Co-op, while sniveling on Facebook and to your friends about the poor coyotes being killed and the rednecks out killing them. You idiots think your food comes to you by magic, but it is ugly work keeping predators away from YOUR food supply. This just happens to be a contest for doing what many of us in Idaho do every day, all so you can brag to your friends about the "amazing free range eggs" you had for breakfast or the "delectable, grass-fed steaks" you had for dinner. You don't understand it and your comments are ignorant at best. "Biting the hand that feeds you" never sounded so arrogant and foolish as what I have read here.
Fact check: Dick Heller never encouraged anyone to open carry on campus. The talk was about gun rights and open carry rights, but at no point prior to or during did he encourage anyone to violate Boise State's policy.
It was an "anonymous tip" that lead to the extra police detail. Because there were over a dozen officers and police cars everywhere, many folks who would have attended the event turned around and left because it felt more oppressive than going through a TSA checkpoint.
...apparently we need SWAT and the US Forest Service to break up a party.
