Guns locked up, definitely. However, you cannot rely on everyone, such as parents of your child's friends, to keep their guns locked up. I think that gun/hunter safety classes are more important starting at a very young age (preschool). My parents taught me from a very young age how to handle a gun; my husband and I passed that on to our children as well as having them both (son & daughter) attend hunter safety. Don't assume that others are going to be responsible. Teach your children to leave the house or tell an adult when another child is in possession of a firearm, and to assume that all guns are loaded.
I believe that bicyclists should be required to register their bicycles and pay yearly licensing fees just as motorists do. These fees would help pay for bike lanes and would remove the feeling of entitlement that motorists rightfully have since the current roads are paid for with taxes collected from gas sales & fees associated with vehicles. I feel that bike lanes should be separated from motor vehicle lanes...bikes and cars just don't mix.
I also feel that bike laws should be more in line with vehicular laws, and/or pedestrian laws should be more in line with bike rider laws. No pedestrian likes to be standing in rain/wind/snow storm waiting for a light to change and have someone on a bike go shooting past.
Lastly, just as cars & bikes don't mix, neither do bikes & pedestrians. I have been almost run over several times on a sidewalk by bike riders, or they've been very vocal if I don't move out of their way on a sidewalk. I think that bicyclists should not be allowed to ride on sidewalks.
