Re: “Take Thatkins

What? No Grateful Dead? You should be ashamed of yourself, Bill.

Re: “No Kid-Ding

Aren't they doing that here right now? I heard something about them tracking kids as early as the 6th grade. What kid do you know that knows what they want to do for a living by age 11? It's ludicrous. I had to tell my son he couldn't pick Exploring Construction as an elective for 8th grade because he'd get put in a lower track, and not get the education he needs to do something else. I thought electives were supposed to be fun. I hate the Boise School District. I lived i Florida for a year and a half, and didn't have nearly the problems I have here with my son in public school. At least in Flori-duh they have decent schools. Not only do our schools SUCK, but they're going to start tracking in the 6th grade. Well, about 6 weeks ago, I took my son OUT of public school. Here in Idaho, they don't have what it takes to teach kids with ADHD. I am sorely disappointed with our school system. My son is doing so much better now, and I won't have to put up with anyone telling him he can't take a certain class because he's been put in a lower track. He's highly intelligent...always aced the ISATs, yet he got failing grades. They refused to put him in any advanced classes because of his grade, only causing him to spiral downward. The principal at East Jr. High even argued with me about what was best for my son. Well, let's see...he's 12 years old and doesn't fully know how to subtract, add fractions, or even know what an adjective is....and THEY THINK THEY KNOW BETTER for him than I do? Laughable!

Re: “Evangecology

I'm a Christian. Not "religous," but a woman of faith. I don't go to church, and I don't attend rallies against abortion. I can't stand GWB. In fact, I am QUITE LIBERAL. The way I see it, Jesus was a flaming, knee-jerk liberal...a hippy walking through the desert healing the sick and feeding the poor. What he taught was that God loves us all, no matter who we are or what we've done. He also taught peace. Yes, PEACE. I don't know WHERE these fundamentalists are getting the idea that what they're doing is ok. I agree with you completely, as always. I had a hysterectomy at the age of 29 leaving me with nothing but my left ovary after having 3 children, one of which I gave up for adoption. I am happy raising my two boys as a single mom. I recently broke up with a boyfriend that wanted to... get this... harvest the eggs from my one ovary, and do in-vitro with a surrogate mother so that HE could have a little genetic copy of himself running around. I say fuck a bunch of that. Not only do I refuse to be used as a baby making machine, but I also refuse to overpopulate this planet any further. I tried telling him the world is already grossly overpopulated, but he wouldn't listen. Gawd, that irritates me. Look, now you got me started.

Re: “"P" as in "Poor"

Mr. Cope...do you have a weblog? If not, do you have any RSS feeds of any kind of your articles? I'd like to be able to access your articles via my feed reader, and link to them on my weblog. Thanks, ~B

Re: “Ask Bi... Badger Bob

Sad, but true. I moved here from Washington state in 1984. That means I can stay, right? ;)
