You do bad to others and bad will be done back. Hopefully yall loose and learn that destruction of property because your team didnt show up to play isent an excuse to destroy peoples stuff. Algerians are known for being volatile humans anyways. Dont you call yourselvs the land of a million martyrs. Semms like yall need a lesson in tollerance. See you wednesday

1-2-3 Vive L'Algérie!!! You have your facts twisted.....Before Egypt allowed its hooligans to attack a bus and injure 3 of Algeria's Fennecs plus a goalkeeping coach, Algeria was at the top of Group C, and had qualified months ago for the CAN. The Egyptian government and the Cairo government were responsible to protect the visiting team and did not. Then to add insult to injury, FIFA turned a blind eye to the events and the injuries of the Fennecs and insited the game be palyed as scheduled. Whether or not Egyot has 'dominated' African football for the past six years is really immaterial; and, had Algeria not been fighting its home-grown terrorists for a decade plus, Algeria would have been top Fox, as was the case in the 1980s (see World Cup 1982 & 1986). The shame will be if Algeria does not go to Johannesburg to pick up where the Fennecs left off in the mid-1980s. Egypt has never been to the World Cup, and after these latest events doe NOT deserve to go now!!!!

I suspect that you would have had some trepidation about visiting Jordan if you were a young female. My daughter studied last semester at university in Amman. Before sending her there we did some research and felt reasonably comfortable because of the reasons you mentioned. While she was there she felt safe in the home of the wonderful family who hosted her, and she felt relatively safe on campus. Otherwise, in spite of her attempts to "blend" by wearing modest clothing, she was constantly harassed by Middle Eastern men who seemed to think she was "fair game" simply because she was a young, Western, female. I would advise extreme caution to female travelers to the Middle East. It is not a place to travel alone.

I have been visiting this blog regularly for some months. In fact, I found it interesting and worth reading as it speaks about different cultural groups. I saw the video about Bhutan that you posted some months back. That was exciting. It was equally exciting to read this particular write up as well. The Muslim Wedding that you have highlighted made me think about our own marriage and other practices which seem a bit similar. Oh, I am one of the Bhutanese refugees resettled in New York. Tihar, our another great festival is knoching at door. I hope you will be thrilled to learn about it. If interested, ask the Bhutanese families about it.

I am sure I shall get to read more.

I would say that you are a promising guy. Everything-from earning to getting success or being failure-depends upon one's sincere effort. Your day already started with your admission at Boise State University. I see another immigrant working in an esteemed company after five years. I swear there won't be anything like a lay off.

Avid readers like me will be interested to read more from you. Keep writing!
This is difficult to critique; on the one had we have a refugee and on the other a broken educational system that is more about profit than learning. The education system in the USA being the most advanced? ha ha. Not likely, in fact, we are near the bottom of any list in any category. Of those categories, BSU is at the bottom - so basically - BSU is the bottom of the bottom. However, for this persons purpose, maybe BSU, in all its pretty glass buildings, is better than whatever was in the past. In that case, I hold great amounts of compassion for the person and I wish him or her well.

Wow, thats really deep. Ive been thru that struggle and can thus relate. I used to be ahamed of carrying that status with me, especially as a primary school kid living in a refugee shelter. But I now stand tall and proud and do not regret a moment of it because that experience has given me a thicker skin in order to withstand the test of time , and many more tests to come. I now face all my challenges with courage knowing that if my family could overcome what we did then I can overcome anything, not by my own strengh or might but by the power of the Holy Spirit. As refugees, God is all we had then and is all we have now! so to every single refugee out there who feels hopeless and that they have reached the end, I say this to you where your courage and strenght ends, God's begins.... So keep hoping in Him cos he never ever dissapoints!!!!! God bless you all
