Alive After Five: The Staxx Brothers with Bank

If you like your Alive After Five served up nice and hot, today’s your day. Not because of the ridiculously warm weather, but because Seattle “hard ass soul” band, The Staxx Brothers are going to be laying down some heated grooves on the plaza this evening.

The octet’s unique blend of soul, funk, rock, and hip-hop will have the sweltering masses gyrating and undulating well into the torrid evening. The band is heavy on the Motown sound, with two female backup singers and an MC in addition to lead singer Davin (DP Staxx) Stedman. Think Amy Winehouse mixed with Blues Traveler and a dash of West Coast hip-hop.

Opening the show will be local pop-punkers Bank who have been making some beautiful music for years (and have a kick-ass merch deal on their Myspace site).

And if things get too hot, there will be plenty of frosty beer to slurp on and a refreshingly cool fountain to slosh around in.
