Do your loved ones, friends and even arch-enemies constantly tell you you're hilarious? If they do—and you have fewer than six months of stand-up comedy experience, have never been paid for stand-up and performed at fewer than 15 open mics—you should audition for Boise's Funniest Person 2016
(also, your arch-enemies are probably being sarcastic).
On Saturdays in July, 20 amateur comedians will compete before a live audience and a panel of judges, who will winnow down the contestant pool to 10. Those 10 will be paired with a professional comic and will compete until only one jokester remains.
Auditions for BFP are at Liquid on Saturday, June 18, 2-6 p.m
.; Monday, June 20, 7-10 p.m.
; and Tuesday, June 21, 7-10 p.m.
Show up, register for an audition spot (first come, first served) and when you're called, you'll go into a room, hang out with a few judges, answer some questions, tell a joke and get your picture taken. The whole process is super chill and, minus the wait time, should take about 10 minutes. It's easy, it's casual and, best of all, it could be profitable: The grand prize is $1,000.
