Boasting about our Blimpie
Thought you were visiting just another Blimpie? The Meridian Blimpie at 521 S. Main St. has been crowned the Best Blimpie Restaurant in the United States by Blimpie International. Beating out almost 1,600 other locations, our little sandwich shop is setting the standard thanks to owner Shelley Uzzel-Savage. The prize package is valued at $28,000 and was awarded earlier this month in Miami, Florida. It is based on nominations from area representatives, customers, financial performance and mystery shoppers. "I've always told my employees they were the best around-now it's proven. Their hospitality and hard work has paid off," said Uzzel-Savage. "I've owned my restaurant for nine years and I'm going to open another Blimpie restaurant with the prize money because I enjoy sharing the Blimpie experience with my customers."
Meet Willie thanks to Texas
Thanks to Texas Roadhouse, fans will have the chance to win a meet and greet with Willie Nelson and two tickets to his upcoming show in Sun Valley on September 10. The prize package also includes dinner for two at Texas Roadhouse and a copy of Nelson's CD "Songs for Tsunami Relief." No purchase is required but you must register at Texas Roadhouse in Meridian (3801 E. Fairview Dr.) by 10 p.m. on September 8 to be eligible.
The legendary crooner will be playing with The Joe Ely Band, Patti Griffin and Alejandro Escovedo and all proceeds go to the Tsunami Relief efforts of C.A.R.E. and UNICEF.
The connection between Nelson and the restaurant began when he visited a Texas Roadhouse and became an instant fan of their steaks, ribs, friendliness and atmosphere. It was a match made in heaven as now every Texas Roadhouse has a Willie's Corner-a booth decorated with Nelson memorabilia in honor of the legend. Patrons are encouraged to add homage trinkets to the booth. Visit Willie's Corner online at www.willies-corner.com.
