ORIGINAL POST: July 23, 2015 3:30 p.m.

A 17-year-old Boise girl has been charged with aggravated DUI after broadsiding a Boise police patrol vehicle the evening of July 22.

According to a police report, law enforcement responded to the crash at the intersection of East Chinden Boulevard and Veterans Memorial Parkway at 10:33 p.m. after the officer in the vehicle was able to radio for help. Witnesses told police that the teenage girl had been traveling north on Veterans Memorial Parkway when she drove through a red light, striking the police vehicle.

Both the girl and the officer were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The officer suffered injuries to his leg and head and is recovering at home.

At the scene of the crash, officers learned that the juvenile driver has been involved in several collisions "just prior" to crashing into the police patrol vehicle. Those included rear-ending a car near North Cole Road and West Northview Street, causing it to then rear-end an Ada County Sheriff's deputy's patrol vehicle. There have been no reported injuries from that crash. The suspect vehicle drove away before the deputy could make contact.

The suspect has also been implicated in a collision with another vehicle near the intersection of Cole and Ustick roads that caused minor damage before again driving away.

Boise police investigating the incident suspected that the girl was intoxicated and discovered evidence of alcohol and drug use. A blood sample was taken of the suspect at a local hospital and has been booked into evidence. The suspect has been charged with felony aggravated DUI and three misdemeanor counts of leaving the scene of a crash. An investigation of the incident by Idaho State Police, Ada County Sheriff's Office and Boise police is ongoing.
