According to President Bob Kustra, the launch of Destination Distinction is an effort to better adapt to a changing Idaho.
"The needs of our students and the community we serve are changing," said Kustra. "And Boise State must change with it in order to not only meet the increased needs of Idaho residents but those of the Northwest region and beyond."
The overall fundraising goal of the seven-year campaign would be Idaho's largest higher education capital goal. To date, a silent phase has already raised more than $70 million.
The funds are intended to benefit four areas of Boise State. First is student support, with a goal of $37 million for endowed scholarships and assistantships. Faculty support is number two on that list. Boise State hopes to raise $26 million for endowed faculty positions and research.
A third area to receive funds under the campaign is direct academic support. The goal is $43 million for new doctoral and masters programs and research centers. Lastly, Boise State intends to direct $69 million to facility improvement for the College of Business and Economics, Bronco Stadium and the Alumni Building.
Boise State also hopes to raise an additional $10 million for long-term fundraising goals.
