In mid-April, the Pocatello-based Idaho State Journal published
a startling report about how several missing eastern Idaho teens had gone missing, but law enforcement had not alerted the public
. The Journal
discovered the teens were missing by visiting the websites of the Idaho State Police
and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
. In the April 17 article, Journal
reporter Debbie Bryce wrote, "Local law enforcement says the seven East Idaho teens currently reported as missing are considered to be runaways, and don’t meet the criteria for issuing an AMBER Alert."
Now, in a May 5 article, the Journal reports
"a fifth Bonneville County teenager has been reported missing this week." Idaho State Police confirm 15-year-old Zarek Johnson was last seen May 5. According to the article, "state police earlier this week listed Taylor Marie Keele, Shelby Dale Hallmark, Asusena Munoz-Razo and Matthew Michael Hoffman as missing. All five of the missing teens are believed to be runaways, and authorities said it’s likely Munoz-Razo and Keele are traveling together." The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the population of Bonneville County at around 110,000.
