"Ilusioz muntatzea."

"The excitement is mounting" as Boise prepares to host the first-ever Basque Soccer Friendly, Saturday, July 18 at Boise State's Albertsons Stadium which has morphed from blue to green for the weekend's big event, the prelude to Jaialdi, which later this month celebrates all-things Basque.

Boise Mayor Dave Bieter was out on the tarmac at Boise Airport Thursday evening as the Athletic Bilbao soccer squad flew in from Spain. Club Tijuana is expected to wing in from Mexico this evening.

Soccer clinics will continue for a second day throughout the Treasure Valley Friday, with clinics being led by soccer coaches and trainers, including the Boise State women's soccer team. Athletic Club Bilbao will host an autograph signing event Friday afternoon at the Basque Center in the Basque Block and at the Basque Soccer Friendly Headquarters at 401 S. 8th Street. Club Tijuana will host its autograph signing event in the lobby of the Riverside Hotel Saturday, July 19 at Noon, just before heading off to Albertsons Stadium.

Same-day ticket sales will begin at noon on Saturday at the Albertson Stadium box office and tailgating is expected to commence by noon. Parking outside the stadium is on a first-come, first-served bases, with RV spots being sold for $75. Free shuttles from downtown Boise to the stadium will run every 15 minutes beginning at 5 p.m.

Gates to Albertsons stadium will swing open at 5:30 (beer and wine sales will be allowed inside the stadium); there will be no re-entry once attendees are inside the stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and an after-party has been scheduled for 6th and Grove streets, running until 1 a.m.
