Injured Deaf Man Crawls For Help Following Car Accident in Eastern Idaho

A deaf man, badly injured in a car crash in the Bannock County town of Downey crawled for nearly a mile before he was discovered.

The Idaho State Journal reports the victim was discovered on Highway 91, far from the scene of a one-car crash. The victim, identified only as a 50-year-old man from the town of Downey was rushed to the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello for treatment. Police, still trying to piece together details of the accident, said they expected the man to survive his injuries. 

The Bannock County Sheriff's office said they were contacted by a Mormon bishop who had received a text from the accident victim, saying he was badly hurt and stranded. Eventually, police were able to locate the victim by pinging a signal off his cell phone.
