It's All Greek (Food) to Us
In the spring and summer seasons, food and culture festivals abound. We're past Beaux Arts and not even thinking about Jaialdi yet, but this weekend we can sate our appetites for good food and cultural celebration with the annual Greek Food Festival happening at the Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
There'll be Greek dancing, music and tours of the church, but here in Füd News country, what we're really excited about are the eats. On the menu is an assortment of Greek favorites and a bunch of stuff that you might not have heard of but are definitely delicious. Menu highlights include souvlaki, dolmathes, Greek pilafi, gyros, baklava, koulourakia and on and on. Plus, all these goodies are offered as takeout, too-so that takes care of dinner. Oh, joy.
Annual Greek Food Festival 2005, June 3-4, 11 a.m.-9 p.m., suggested donation $1, children under 12 FREE. Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2618 W. Bannock St. (corner of 27th and Bannock). For a schedule of events or for more information, call 345-6147.
