McCall to Impose Fourth of July Quota, Again, at North Beach

While a county patrol boat will be in the vicinity of the beach (with three or four other boats cruising Payette Lake), several teams of officers from ISP and the Valley County Sheriff's Office will be located at the beach beginning the morning of July 4.

For the third year running, law enforcement in and around McCall have decided to set a quota for North Beach at Payette Lake in McCall.

The McCall Star-News reports that the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, Idaho State Police and the Valley County Sheriff's Office are limiting the beach attendance to 750 persons on Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5. Previous July 4ths at North Beach have seen as many as 2,500 people, triggering numerous arrests and citations for rowdy and/or drunken behavior.

While a county patrol boat will be in the vicinity of the beach (with three or four other boats cruising Payette Lake), several teams of officers from ISP and the Valley County Sheriff's Office will be located at the beach beginning the morning of July 4.

Police said they'll have a zero tolerance for drunk drivers and will be paying particular attention to vehicle traffic in and around the North Beach area.
