David Provencio, 18, is charged with involuntary manslaughter.
A young Meridian man is behind bars, charged with involuntary manslaughter, after police say a Saturday night incident involving alcohol and marijuana got out of hand, resulting in the shooting death of a 15-year-old.
Law enforcement were summoned to the 2300 block of East Franklin Road in Meridian shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 17. The initial call into 911 mentioned a possible suicide, but when police arrived on the scene, they determined several people had been smoking pot and drinking alcohol before David Provencio, 18, of Meridian, pointed a gun at the victim. Provencio reportedly thought the weapon was unloaded.
The teenage boy was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Provencio was booked into the Ada County Jail on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
