MFA Reading Series: Gabriel Gudding

Gabriel Gudding is the author of Rhode Island Notebook (Dalkey Archive Press, 2007), a 436-page hybrid mixture of poetry, nonfiction, and essay, and A Defense of Poetry (Pitt Poetry Series 2002, winner of Starrett First Book Award by the University of Pittsburgh Press), along with several recent chapbooks. Gudding’s translations from Spanish have appeared in anthologies such as The Oxford Book of Latin American Poetry, Poems for the Millennium, and The Whole Island: Six Decades of Cuban Poetry. He teaches critical poetics, ethics, literature and creative writing in the English Studies department at Illinois State University.
