An Elmore County judge decided July 25 to release Father Victor Jaggerstatter released from jail on his own recognizance after the priest was charged with sexually assaulted an unconscious man.
Elmore County prosecutors said the victim, an airman stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base woke up in the early morning hours of July 10 and discovered that Jagerstatter had performed oral sex on the airman while he was unconscious. Prosecutors said the victim and Jagersttaer knew one another.
The alleged victim reported the assault to an Air Force official, who in turn, handed the case over to the Mountain Home Police Department.
Elmore County Judge David Epis decided to set Jaggerstatter free, with no bond, pending his next appearance on Monday, Aug. 8.

A Roman Catholic priest in Mountain Home is behind bars at the Elmore County Jail, accused of the sexual abuse and exploitation of a vulnerable adult. The Roman Catholic Diocese announced Friday that Father Victor Jagerstatter, 39, had been placed on administrative lead.
The Mountain Home News confirmed Friday
that Jagerstatter had been jailed and, while few details have yet been released, the Elmore County prosecutor's office is investigating the case.
Idaho Catholic officials released the following statement:
"The Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise has learned of the arrest of Rev. Victor Jagerstatter, Parish Administrator of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Mountain Home. The Diocese will cooperate fully with law enforcement officials in their investigation. Due to the seriousness of the allegations, Fr. Jagerstatter has been placed on administrative leave. We hold up in prayer all those involved in this matter."
Jagerstatter, ordained in 2006, previously served as parish priest of Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Weiser before taking over as faith leader of Mountain Home's Our Lady of Good Counsel in summer 2013. In addition to his duties in Mountain Home, Jagerstatter has also been responsible to the communities
of Our Lady of Limerick in Glenns Ferry, St. Bridget in Bruneau and St. Henry in Grand View.
Jagerstatter is scheduled to be arraigned in Elmore County Court on Monday, July 25.
