Harlan Hale, the thug who hogged local airtime after peppering a cop car with handgun fire on February 28, was finally apprehended last Wednesday in Garden City. After extensive surveillance of a suspicious home, officers spotted Hale strolling out to a car with a pistol sticking jauntily out of his waistband. He backed out of the driveway and proceeded to ram through a nearby police roadblock, nearly hitting a Garden City officer.
Hale then led officers on a brief but destructive high speed chase down nearby streets, through the yard and tool shed of a home and finally into a canal. But he still wasn't done. After crawling from the vehicle into some nearby weeds, Hale continued to exchange verbal spars and gunshots with officers before finally surrendering at approximately 12:35 p.m. He has been charged with attempted murder.
