The Canyon County Board of Elections may have to offer a do-over to voters after a ballot screw-up in Tuesday's Caldwell school trustee election.

In the Caldwell School District's Zone 2 election, incumbent Thomas Briten successfully fought off challenger Toni Waters but only by a four-vote margin. This morning's Idaho Press-Tribune reports that five ballots for the Zone 2 election were issued to voters in Zone 1 of the district.. Simply put, there's a possibility that five votes would have changed the outcome. The candidates have been notified of the error, according to county election officials.

The Press-Tribune reports that candidates have within 20 days to challenge the outcome after county commissioners officially canvass the vote later today.
