The Canyon County Board of Elections may have to offer a do-over to voters after a ballot screw-up in Tuesday's Caldwell school trustee election.
In the Caldwell School District's Zone 2 election, incumbent Thomas Briten successfully fought off challenger Toni Waters but only by a four-vote margin. This morning's Idaho Press-Tribune reports
that five ballots for the Zone 2 election were issued to voters in Zone 1 of the district.. Simply put, there's a possibility that five votes would have changed the outcome. The candidates have been notified of the error, according to county election officials.
reports that candidates have within 20 days to challenge the outcome after county commissioners officially canvass the vote later today.
