Rumors that the sale of two conjoined Sixth Street restaurants was in negotiations made the rounds for several weeks before owner Dave Krick made a final decision.
Krick, who also owns Bittercreek Ale House and Red Feather Lounge, said earlier this week that he'd had a few offers on the table, but worked hard to overlook more financially tempting ones in favor of finding owners he felt had the right vision.
"I could have made more money selling them as a nightclub than a restaurant, but I wanted to make sure that from an integrity standpoint, [the restaurants] went into the hands of someone that had the right vision and the right passion and integrity themselves to be able to take it in the right direction."
That person, says Krick, is Kristi Johnson, who also currently own Legends Sports Pub and Grill in the Edwards cinema complex on Overland Road.
BW reported last week that Chad Johnson, Kristi's husband, was the new owner, when in fact, Kristi's name is officially on the paperwork.
And Krick is not only optimistic about the Johnsons' takeover, but quiets chatter about the possible disappearance of Front Door.
"[Johnson] and her team are 100 percent committed to Reef and Front Door with a restaurant focus first," said Krick. "The Front Door will absolutely continue on the path that it's on. Its focus is draft beer and that's exactly where they want it to be. They like the way it is."
