Saffron To Close
After four years of serving some of the most inventive, artful cuisine in Boise, Saffron (the last remaining jewel in the Rampant Restaurant crown) will close its doors forever this Saturday.
But if you're up for one or two last hurrahs, the eatery will be open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5-10 p.m., and rumor has it that the same great food will be accompanied by the entire wine list offered by the glass! Come say your goodbyes under the installation art sphere we've known and loved for years.

Little Richard's Becomes Taste
Hyde Park's favorite haunts have undergone a complete surgery. Under the new ownership of credentialed wine guru Erik Mclaughlin, anything sub-par has been replaced with clean, modern, simple excellence. The once "cluttered, cheap divey bar" interior is now a light, airy space where patrons can enjoy exclusive Thomas Hammer coffee blends and pastries made in house. By night, the bar turns from coffee to a selection of 60 premium wines available by the "taste" (1/4 of a glass) and over 200 different beers. There is also a short menu offering cheese platters, fresh oysters shucked to order, delicate salads, several creative entrees and a dessert tray.
Richard's, already known for its sumptuous repast, has been kicked up with the finest linens, flatware and chefs from some of the best culinary schools in the country. Owners Erik and Jennifer Mclaughlin are hoping to turn Richard's into "the best fine dining in Boise" featuring high quality organics, local produce and a landmark Hyde Park residents can be proud of. In addition to their weekly dining schedule, the Mclaughlins will also be putting on a regular Wednesday night wine tasting based on varying themes.

Exclusive Wine Dinner at the Dish
Newly appointed Executive Chef Peter Troy will demonstrate his skills with a gorgeous, five-course meal/wine tasting this Sunday, September 19 from 7-10 p.m. Hayden's Jim Miller will be hosting the event, and the menu includes shrimp cocktail with avocado and grapefruit, beet salad with Asian pears, goat cheese and toasted almonds, pan-seared salmon with green beans, bacon and fennel, beef tenderloin with herb spaetzel and red wine sauce and an apple tart with vanilla ice cream and caramel. Featured wines include Giesen Sauvignon Blanc, Caymus Conundrum and Elk Cove Pinot Grigio, Quintessa and Andrew Hill Merlot, Willamette Valley Viagnier and Schramsberg and Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Champagne.
