Slate: How Many People Have Been Shot In Your Neighborhood?

Local incidents are, unfortunately, all-too-familiar:
Those are just a few of the markers on an interactive map of 2015 shooting incidents in the United States using data from the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive and reported Dec. 8 by Slate.

As of sunrise on Wednesday, Dec. 9, GVA reported there had been 49,078 incidents of gun violence in America this year, resulting in 12,426 deaths. The statistics also reveal 650 American children (ages 0-11) and 2,455 American teens have been killed or injured by guns in 2015. There have been 312 mass shootings, 2,116 home invasions and 1,778 accidental shootings. Those numbers were almost assuredly expected to increase by sunset.
